Marius is too distracted by his mad love for Cosette to notice poor Eponine's affections... most would notice how scarlet her cheeks are, but lo! He's in love himself and is blind... who can blame him?

No, no, no... he simply never "noticed" her. Eponine is a streetgirl, and he considers her has a pal, a buddy, a little helper, but he never caught on that she had a hopeless crush on him. And he ended up falling in love with the beautiful Cosette instead.
