White Alert is a biohazard/enemy boarding party signal

I really dig the old school setup with this interface. It seems rather simplified, but then again, the future should be more user-friendly and functional after all.

That makes sense. Once again, it would make a good screensaver.

Fun. How does he aim if he has to go to manual?

There are manual controls right from this console, on the middle of the front complex.

davemetlesits In reply to Night-Forager [2010-03-21 19:34:39 +0000 UTC]

The Polaris never loses Redshirts! We're a fighing ship, not some fancy exploratory cruiser.

Night-Forager In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-21 20:52:19 +0000 UTC]

Not even one? You make Kirk look like a pessimist and an incompetent Captain. The Kzinti must not have transporters.

davemetlesits In reply to Night-Forager [2010-03-21 21:07:04 +0000 UTC]

Okay, when the Kzinti boarded the ship in the war... that was a massacre. A quarter of the crew was lost. But on landing party scenarios, we don't lose people.

To bring up a subject that's a little sore with other fans (myself among them), does Section 31 have any involvement with the First Fleet or the Polaris?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to Night-Forager [2010-03-21 22:14:30 +0000 UTC]

Section 31 was behind the Federation giving away the three Human colony planets to the Kzinti after the Third Man-Kzin War, with thousands of people left behind. After the Polaris crew started to save the people, Section 31 tried to persuade them not to spread the word on the Feds leaving people for food to the cats. The Polaris crew replied by sending the report to every available station and starship via subspace radio.
They also supported the Kzinti in the Kzin-Tzenkethi War. The Polaris supported the Tzenkethi. It meant a lot of Fed ship VS Fed ship skirmishes.
Section 31 helped the Polaris crew during the Romulan hostage crisis for which they wanted the help of the Polaris in locating and destroying a Gorn research and development facility.

White alert?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to LoneStranger [2010-03-21 01:42:07 +0000 UTC]

White Alert can mean two things:

1, intruder alert

2, shipwide biohazard alert (biological/chemical warfare, viral outbreak, etc.)

overseer In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-21 11:15:20 +0000 UTC]

I think that has been changed to the "blue alert" in TNG era, no? Although I think intruder alert was red there, too, just with a different sound attached.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to overseer [2010-03-21 12:50:11 +0000 UTC]

I saw Blue Alert in VOY only and it meant planetary landing of the ship.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

overseer In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-21 13:54:58 +0000 UTC]

No, there was a blue alert used in the TNG episode "Brothers" from season 4. Data had reversed the environmental systems on the Bridge, but initially it looked like a malfunction. The computer announced a warning to evacuate the Bridge due to "Deck 1 Life Support failure". And a blue alert was sounded.

Maybe blue alert is when they're listening to Jimi Hendrix

I guess that'd work for zombies, but wouldn't that the ship out too?

Captain: Are you blowin' up my ship?! STOPPIT!!!!!
