That's true, you have to have "some" creativity to your own creation. I was never good at proportion, still working on it, but one thing I have been taught to do is work through a problem in a painting, instead of starting over

Cannot look away from this piece...there are so many shapes and forms in the water and the clouds, you expect something hovering under the surface. It gives the painting a really mystical aura and the colours give a sense of tranquility. Once again, beautiful work, Dave.

Hey thanks for your comment, Actually no I never have used masking liquid. As my teacher puts it "too much work afterwards, but if you can get passed the scrapping it's pretty useful"

Gesso... I had never heard of (nor would come up with) that O___O
how do you use it? Do you mix it with a bit of water beforehando or just as it is?

well, gesso is an acrylic that you can mix with watercolors to give a thin "fixed" layer over the spot you want to finish off. The girl in this picture has a lot of gesso on her face. Be careful though, when the gesso drys with the paint it dries darker

I love to use new materials with watercolours. I like them a lot, but I still have a looong way to go 'till I can use them anything above "good"
