Description Gabbi is the daughter of my close friend Ofelia Slater, the woman who did the makeup in many of the modeling photos you see on my website. She is four. I last photographed Gabbi two years ago, and well, it always amazes me how fast kids grow up. Just two years ago Gabbi wasn't even talking, back then I had to wave a hackey sack wildly in the air in order to catch her attention.

And now? Well, there isn't any better way to say it than that I feel Gabbi's personality is unstoppable. She is a diva. She could be grumpy one moment and then, as soon as I point my camera at her, a little smile creeps onto her face. She loves looking at photos of herself. "Who is that?" I ask her. "That's Gabbi!" she responds.

Hope everything is going well guys . Spring break here in Palo Alto... just taking it easy and relaxing before I get back to SD on Sunday.

Technical info: photos from this series taken yesterday, Tuesday March 29th using the Canon 1DS Digital SLR camera and the 85mm 1.8 USM lens. Shot taken with her sitting down and looking up at the camera. Weather was overcast (perfect for portraits) and slightly rainy. Taken at Duck Pond near Palo Alto; use this place a lot because it is windy.

Aw, it's fascinating to watch kids grow up. I've seen my cousins and stepnephews and niece go from newborns to babies to kids. This little girl's just precious.

I'm with waylander, here: you've definitely caught a moment when she looks well wise beyond her years. I've always found kids like that slightly unnerving, but this is an absolutely awesome photo. Definitely a fave.

It's been a while since you last posted!

Usually, I don't like photographs of people but somehow, you seem to capture their personality very well. There is something about your photographs that make them seem almost as if the subject is right there in front of me, frozen in time.

Wonderfully done!

Fantastic capture man,
I keep having to go back and look at her eyes over and over. It's like there's another person in there looking out, that's already lived a lifetime.
I know you were saying you had to wave a hackey sack to get her attention, but her gaze seems to be more like she's taking everything in, examining you even, and not just looking in you direction because you have something she wants.
Well done man, great photo.

Hey Wayland!!

Thanks for droppin by! I love Gabbi's eyes too... she looks really mature in this shot but this is just one of many faces of Gabbi . I have changed my description (it was written a bit confusingly); it was 2 years ago, when I first photographed Gabbi, that I had to use the hackey sack. But not anymore - now she just looks at the camera as if it was an old friend.
