I installed the user-script within Chrome and it seems to work^^
So, why converting this into a Chrome-Userscript by hand when Chrome is able to use Userscripts on its own?^^
Or is there something I don't know?^^

Ohh, I saw the Greasemonkey link and I thought it was for Firefox for some reason.

In that case, YAY! Thank you!

Why not clicking middle click? Useless...

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Dediggefedde In reply to sb16 [2011-05-02 14:28:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, clicking on each item you want to open in a new tab works fine as well^^

Maybe the two main-reasons for this are to focus on "selecting and rethinking" of the collection of items you want to open (only those you would like to open + no items left forgotten) + You don't have to search the right link within the item...

OK, not that much reason to install, but a little help^^

I was kind of wondering the same thing as this person (Why not just use middle click) but he was kind of rude about it and I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your calm and level-minded behavior. It's nice to see, especially on a site like this.

Thanks for your opinion^^

I try to be polite as often as I can, but it doesn't work every time^^
(But part of the reasons is my English-knowledge that may cause confusion^^)

However, maybe you should also contact the suggester of the idea for his motivation^^
Of course, it's only a little tool for a little time-save^^

Indeed, I've read up a little bit on it, and I can understand the convenience, but middle-click works well enough for me

Still, I appreciate the time you spent on making this, and congratulations on the recognition.

From a little testing, it doesn't seem to work on groups messages at all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to namenotrequired [2011-05-01 23:38:46 +0000 UTC]

ok... er... I don't have group-messages^^ I never had (even forgot, there was such thing^^)...
did it work before, do you know?
what does it instead of working right? what should it do there?

the script should find all items in class "mcbox-sel" and opens the first given link within it, that ends with digits or digits/.
so, what kind of link should get clicked on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

namenotrequired In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-05-02 00:33:55 +0000 UTC]

I see
The page works as normal, the script doesn't break it, it just doesn't work as in, the button shows up, and doesn't open anything.

Okay, I have little experience with this but I'll see if I can figure out anything from the source code

....

Okay, this is harder than I thought Especially since I just cleared group messages
There are several categories - in some I'd like to open the link with class="a", in some the one with class="u", in some ones that don't have a class at all. I'm not sure how to distinguish the different categories, though

...could it help if I invite you to a contributor's position in a group? You needn't do anything, but just so you can receive some messages and see for yourself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to namenotrequired [2011-05-02 13:07:01 +0000 UTC]

If you invite me to a cintributor's position, it would help the best, I think^^
however, if the links that you would like to open follows a scheme like "user.deviantart.com/blabla/hui...123/", it would help enough, I think^^
But if not, please invite me, so I can see what you are longing for^^

I have! let me know when you've accepted

Well, yes, but that differs per message category

Alright! You should have received a couple of messages by now (I'll write a forum on there too, in a min) so you can see where the script works and where it doesn't

I also found out it does work on some things already.. not sure why it didn't before

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to namenotrequired [2011-05-04 10:50:52 +0000 UTC]

Well... As I don't know exactly where these Group-Messages are, I just guess^^
Well, I got a Bulletin and 6 Deviations from your Group.
If I click in "Groups" on "#lyriclub" in the bar on the left, I see 1 Hot Topic, 3 Comments and 4 Activities. All seem to work well with the script^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

namenotrequired In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-05-04 10:59:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that's what the group messages are

You've received a forum thread now as well... and some people joining the group, I think?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to namenotrequired [2011-05-04 11:44:09 +0000 UTC]

yeah^^ that's the hot topic and activities^^
the forum-post gets opened and the entries of joining leads to the user-profiles.

AreteEirene In reply to ??? [2011-05-01 19:16:39 +0000 UTC]

I've been using this for about an hour now and it's awesome. My only quibble is that the activity stacks open up to the deviation instead of the person who faved it, which is what I would assume most people would want.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to AreteEirene [2011-05-01 21:02:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for trying it^^
They would want to see the user-page instead of the deviation?^^
Well, maybe I just didn't do that as I didn't know whether necessary or not + it is a bit difficult to realize^^
However, I just tried to change it.
Of course, I tested it, but if anything goes wrong, please tell^^

(I also thought about inverting the open-order to open the tabs in the order you see on your page... but then again, letting them open in the current order is more chronological-logical: oldest->newest...)

Please just install the script again to see the updated version.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AreteEirene In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-05-02 00:37:49 +0000 UTC]

That I will do.

Many people like to thank for faves or visit the pages of people who fave, so opening the deviant sites will be awesome.

I like that the tabs open up in the order on the page.

namenotrequired In reply to ??? [2011-05-01 09:02:47 +0000 UTC]

I really like what it does and it works really well but it seems to only work from either within a stack or from [link] - not from the regular message center. Could that be added?
If possible, to have it work for journals, articles etc. would be nice as well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to namenotrequired [2011-05-01 12:54:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your feedback^^
It isn't hard to let it work on other sites. The Problem is to let it work right^^
the name-space it works on was ...messages/#view=deviations*, means, all pages of deviantart which URL begins with http...#view=deviations. So it only worked on deviation-pages

I just tested it on other categories and it seemed to work fine... so I added the open-button on pages like "devwatch" into every button-group, but clicking on any of them is opening all selected items, even from different categories... (don't know if that's a good idea^^)

So, please install it again (userscripts don't need to get uninstalled first) and test it again^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

namenotrequired In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-05-01 18:39:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I noticed I could just remove #view=deviations but I didn't know if it'd really work as well then.

Great, I'll test it thanks
