Description This was done really quick but I've been asked a lot to make something up.
Its rather basic, sorry bout that ^^'' But a lot of questions I get asked are photoshop ones so I thought I would mention things especially for those who are new to the program. If you have any questions feel free to send me a note and I'll try my best to answer.
My portrait images are done this same way, just without doing the outline.

the lineart is so thin and lovely~! when you're doing soft-colouring, do you blur the edges of cell-shading, or simply outline it in low opacity/soft brushes, or something completely different? i mostly cell shade, and i'm interested in soft shading

this will help me alot! but wen i go make the 1st 2 layers, my pic doesnt invert back. and wen i try to fill diff layers, it makes the entire pic that color. it doesnt just fill the section i want. do u kno y that is?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeEtta In reply to DemonicDJkitty [2007-05-09 17:20:49 +0000 UTC]

Did you invert it in the Channels pallet or the Layers? It has to be inverted in the channels, this will make everthing black and your outlines white. Then go back to the Layers *You should just have the background layer* and when you go to create new layers it inverts it back to your outlines being black and the background white. Let me know if you get it or Ill try to help you more.

ok wen i got as far as the deselect thing. then i make a new layer (3) and wen i go to fill in a section, it makes the whole thing that color. do u kno y that is?

DeEtta In reply to FMA-Addicts-club [2007-05-16 17:24:14 +0000 UTC]

you have to fill it while the selection is still on, that will fill just the lines. Then deselect. Let me know if that helps

I have a Mac as well, and Apple I works just fine. Also, you can get a mouse with a right-click for a Macintosh. I've got a wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech that works exceptionally well.

How the hell do you do all that with just the mouse? I almost want to buy you a graphire tablet just to see what you could turn out with it.

With a tablet you could probably blend your colors without having to rely on the smudge tool as much. Don't get me wrong though, you get great results with the smudge, but doing full on color blending with just the paintbrush yields a smoother look. But I'd think a tablet would be required for those techniques since you would need pressure sensitivity.

I think I'll just wait until my friend gets into graphic arts, that way she can color my stuff. That sounds like a plan for me!

You've finally given a hint of how you defy the laws of God with your awesome photoshoping. I'm definetely faving this because once I get photoshop again I'm going to have pictures flying out of the my @$$ and this overview is definetely going to help.

P.S. I'm sure nobody cares because Im not that good at drawing but the main reason I haven't been getting a lot of drawings in is because I had photoshop but don't any more I was in the middle of working on like 6 pictures so...... yea.
