Description
So, for those that missed my recent journal entry, I thought I'd announce one of my upcoming projects for the new year. Once Bestiary Alphabetum Round 2 is finished, I'm going to (amidst other announced and started projects) tackle Nintendo's 1986 classic Metroid, in the same vein and scope as my LOZ Redux series; characters, enemies, environments and bosses, drawn and described in detail.Stay tuned, lots planned this year!

Too true, when did that even happen anyway? I lost sight of the Metroid series after the game boy advance, And I can't recall the zero suit in that one. So, Gamecube? Seems awfully well embedded in the series for something so new. Oh... there have been seventeen years and three Nintendo consoles since the Gamecube now haven't there?... I feel old now...

It first appeared in Metroid: Zero Mission, which was the GBA remake of the first game. It's a good game, but I do prefer the original quite a bit. I think once it appeared there, it then appeared in Smash Bros and other games. Not sure if it was in the prime series, however.

Absolutley brilliant. Just love the redesign. Also the shading is just gorgeous and the positioning of the helmet so you can see the glass of the faceplate from the underside is just awesome.

Exciting! I like how your ignoring the other games and focus on what this stand alone game displays, It allows for more creativity and lets you forget about annoying retcons. Also, the non-skimpy outfit on Samus is nice to see, and I'm counting that"zero suit" in the skimpy category. She is a little too much of a pin-up-girl out of the armor and I think giving her a more practical look is a good change.

I've always loved the first game the most in its own way; there's something i can't quite explain about it, but there's a lack of atmosphere that makes it incredibly atmospheric and creepy. Super Metroid may be my favorite, gameplay-wise, but the first game has a special place for me and I think 'ignoring' the other games will allow me to not let the other games' visual influence seep in too much.
The Zero Suit isn't a bad design or anything, but yeah, that was the moment when Samus turned into more of a typical character whose appeal is based more out of sexiness than anything. (and this is coming from someone who doesn't really have any problems with 'sexy' characters in general).
