Description Bandwagon, GET!

Hahah this was way harder than I thought it would be. I spent most of the time on this seriously wracking my brain as to what fits, or what i'm forgetting, or... anything like that. Also, I think this is the fugliest influence sheet that dA has to offer. So, if you're wondering why my art looks like a bunch of styles vomited together on a paper- look no further for your answer.

You can stop reading now, if you'd like. I started doing a writeup of each section and why it was there, but it ended up as this bizarre self-amusing essay. So I will now shamefully put it under this horizontal rule, so you may ignore it if you wish

Here's the blank one, if you wanna make it do: [link]

(PS: doing this to keep my sanity. I WILL get on your comments. maybe this weekend T_T nyurgh)

---------------------------------------------------

Final Fantasy 6
This game brings me so many many fond memories, and I adore it even still today. My most replayed game of all time, It's been a loyal friend since early elementary school. I'm not even sure what to say except that if you don't know it- you are missing so much. It made me want to make games, but even more than that, make stories. The game and its music still inspire me so much!

Vampire Books
Featured is Vivian Vande Velde's Companions of the Night YA Novel. I don't think I've talked about it much, but, although I love watching them now, vampire movies and tv shows were NOT at all how I fell in love with vampires. I was a huge bookworm when I was little, and spent most of my after-school elementary days at the library. My biggest love was fantasy and horror books, and more than that- vampire books. I devoured them- narratives and encyclopedias, everything and anything- and although my mother was at first a little concerned for my sanity, I think, as with most things, she's just glad I'm not doing drugs. Probably that's why my idea of vampires is a bit more "classic" than a lot that have been flying around lately.

Joss Whedon
What is there to say about this man that hasn't already been said. I'm a total super fangirl for him, though I try to not shove it down anyone's throat. Character-driven writing that takes something fantastical and brings it down to earth and fills it with real emotion and meaning. That's really what I strive for, and I think he still does it the best. I can and have rewatched his shows over and over and over...

90s Anime
My first real true love, I suppose. This is when anime was new, cost 30 bucks a VHS tape, and really felt like it was made for you and you alone. It was hard work to get your hands on these, and squirrel them away to your room where Mom wouldn't know there was swearing and violence in them, and sit wide-eyed with wonderment at what you had. Man, new anime just doesn't give me that feeling anymore. Maybe it's just nostalgia, or maybe they were just better. Of course TRIGUN (pictured) is one of these, but I also include Cowboy Bebop, Lain, Outlaw Star, Macross Plus, Akira, Gundam Wing, Fushigi Yuugi, and many moar. These made me realize how far and how MUCh you could do with drawn medium, that I'd just never been shown before in American stuff.

90s Cartoons
This, of course, is Batman Beyond, which just BARELY counts yesss~ but there were tons of others. I was a total sucker for Saturday Morning cartoons, including but not limited to the Aladdin animated series, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, Batman The Animated Series, Freakazoid, need I go on?! Tv was worth watching then, and I still enjoy rewatching all of the above even today.

Twin Peaks
I love a lot of Lynch's work, but Twin Peaks is something I got exposed to at a young age, and I totally adored. It runs the gamut of messages and styles, and I always loved how it could be so funny and witty and weird, then turn on a dime and be one of the scariest things that would keep me up at night. As well, being an overall character driven storyline is just such tops, and made me fall in love with all of them.

Star Wars
Believe it or not, I was a super Star Wars nerd for a long long time. My first prose long-story was an original set in the Star Wars universe. After the newer trilogy, though, I just stopped caring. As well, there are so many other people who are bigger fans than me of it, it seems useless to mention in casual conversation. But such a big part of my life was devoted to the movies and all of the original accompanying novels surrounding them, that I figured it deserves a spot!

ORANGE
The color orange. It's an obsession, but also a muse. It makes me happy to see it, fills me with energy, and overall just keeps me going. It certainly deserves a spot.

Synthpop
Or.. whatever it's called. I call it synthpop, but as my livestreamers know, I don't really claim to know the legit names of genres. And One is pictured, but I also adore Depeche Mode, Beborn Beton, Apoptygma Berserk, Mind in a Box, etc etc. It's that dark moody kinda music that really puts you in a place to draw the moody kinds of things I do time to time, but can also be upbeat enough to keep you in the drawing zone!

Dinosaurs
Sadly, one of the first things I drew, and that inspired me to draw. I still do love dinosaurs, and models of them litter my room. I'm not sure what that says about me, except that I was and still am a super nerdy kid, but they'll never leave the deep recesses of my heart cockles

Fantasy Pinups
Boris Vallejo included, among many others whose works I see on calendars and book covers as well as on the internet. Though now that I'm older and went to art school, I've learned that Vallejo is somewhat of a dirty word in illustration-land, but I never knew that as a kid, and reading his books on painting and art really made me want to do THAT some day! So little Del would disapprove me leaving him out.

Internet Artwork
Although I took art in high school and graduated from an art college, I consider myself largely an internet artist. From the tender age of 11 I started posting artwork online, perusing it, and getting feedback. That's why I still love it so much today- it feels like home, and I've really learned a lot, and gotten a ton of inspiration from all of you.

Kentaro Miura
UUUGGHHHHH so much love it hurts. I've always said that if Kentaro Miura showed up and asked me to throw away all my own hopes and dreams to draw for him, I'd do it. I don't know why, but his work and storywriting and characters just speak so much to me. I don't even know how to describe it- but man Berserk can make me tear up in a heartbeat. It's oddly one of the few artists whose work I adore and look up to, yet always inspires me- it never makes me feel small or insignificant or mopey, but always makes me strive to try harder!

Tee hee. It's interesting, Trigun and Akira were two of my first animes (though I only really started in 06/07) but I'm more of a noughties anime fan in a big way. I just love the crispness of 00's anime shows, especially madhouse stuff =3 Can't wait for the Trigun movie to be released X3

Totally agree with you about 90s Anime. I enjoy watching every now and then these days, but that wonderment and being completely absorbed in everything just isn't there any more. Gundam Wing was my love <3

Also, Darkwing Duck!! (the theme is now stuck in my head), Freakzoid!! Yesss.

I think I have to do this. Thanks for sharing~
