Description
EDIT: It has been brought to my attention by a commenter that the 'randomly placed apostrophes' were throwing off the flow.THERE WILL BE NO PUNCUATION. This will be a continueing trend throughout the rest of my poetry. I've seen the light and old habits die hard.

Poem about people acting older than they are, or wanting to be older, not taking the time to enjoy themselves while they're what they are. =]

Boy this is so true. I look at my students and my daughter and I shake my head thinking about how one day, they'll wish they could go back to this carefree time and savor every moment of it. I loved my childhood and would love to be able to go back. I did not want to grow up. Beautiful work.

ah, I'm still very young. (lets just say i'm under 17) and I know my friends would LOVE to be older. Hah, I remember 3rd grade and everyone wanted to drive cars and complain about parents and date.
and we were 7. everyone wants to grow up, then parents complain they wanna be young again. Very good poem

This poem speaks so much truth. It's something everybody should see and know about.
This somehow reminds me of when my class was being pessimistic and our English teacher said "you're young, be optimistic."
The poem is wonderful, great job!

this has really touched me. great words.
I keep getting told i need to 'grow up' by my friends, which annoys me a great deal since i don't think it is that important to 'grow up'. I'm actually a lot 'further on' in life than most of them; own my own house, steady job, steady relationship with talk of children... yes i like cosplay, anime, video games, just about anything belonging to the sci fi or fantasy genre... i get excited by the harry potter films. i still like pokemon! who cares. i also pay taxes, try to look after my family, and i try not to hide from any problems that may be scary.

Oh my god, I know! It really bothers me, adults complain all the time about how life is hard and that they wish they were still young and that we should enjoy our youth but then they make us grow up even faster then we have too. I don't want to start now. I don't want ot have responsibility just yet. I want to be stupid, have fun, & to be happy. In the end the majority of my life would be work work work. Not yet. And yes that was an angsty teen comment HA!

I remember that this is how I felt at 16. It has always made me sad that people want to be old so quick, cuz they don't seem to know what they have and how easy it actually /was/ for them.

Yes! exactly! Like how everybody seems to expect teenagers to have a job and act like adults. We're not, not yet. I'll get a job when school is over. Now I'm gonna enjoy being between childhood and adulthood, thank you very much.

Your poem is wonderful...
I'm young now but before read your poem I've always wish to grow up fast, just 'cause I don't have the freedom that I like to have... Thank you, for now I'll stop to wish to grow up fast. I'll save your poem with me... And I'll read it when I start to think in grow up fast. Thanks to your poem I learned that I have to worry about my grades of school...
Thank you so much... Now I have to study more and hard!

I love this I always get all freaked out when I think of growing up. I enjoy being young and being with my parents, and getting allowence lol, and being drove places, being allowed to be a complete dork without being made fun of lol. I dont want to grow up and get a job, or a car, or my own house, or have to pay bills, etc. Being young is great... I want to stay this way.

The moment I went 20 was horrible, and this was just some months ago...I already feel like I've missed so damn much in my life. Life was so f*cking easy when I was 16 or 17. There was nothing to worry about, except my grades in school and some heartaches from time to time. And now I have to think about getting a job, earning money, running through the town in hurry for stupid appointments...All the crappy adult stuff. It's sad

All of my younger cousins, age 13-14, are trying to grow up far too fast. I like to tell them that adult life sucks pretty bad once you realize that you tried to hard to make it come along faster. I'm 24, and I don't regret not wearing makeup in high school, going to the movies with friends on Fridays instead of drinking underage, and waiting until I was mentally AND physically ready to choose a partner to make love to. I do have regrets. Like pushing my parents away at time because "they weren't cool enough and were too stupid to understand", rushing how to move out and away from them, and not taking advice because I thought I knew it all.
Kids need to learn to be kids. It's not a bad thing, but they need to realize that some of their choices will make life so much harder because they so badly want to "grow up".

This reminds me of the person who used to be my best friend. We're the same age, and it's like she "outgrew me" and called everything I did immature. That's no fun, if you ask me.

I act older than I am sometimes, but only because I have been through stuff most people my age dont even take time to think about. I'm only fourteen, but my eyes have already been opened to the evils of the world, and my naivity has been stripped away. I just can't take joy in some of the things in youth.
