Description
EDIT4: okay I've been away for a few years and some things may have changed but, some additional information:EDIT2: Now featuring how to add community emotes to your comment signature
Special thanks to Krissi001 for sharing the secret
That text for anyone too lazy to type is
EDIT3: Double check the above text against what's in the image; dA likes to mess with the description text
Edit: added an extra section on what to do if you still cannot see your comment signature (or anyone else's)
A tutorial on how to set your comment signature.
I had trouble with this when I first started out, and I have seen many new deviants asking about it.
There are probably plenty of these floating around, but for some I decided to make my own.
I hope people find this helpful

It usually does that when the emote you're trying to use isn't actually submitted to the emoticons / chat friendly emotes category.

Why I always got a :bademoticon: ?
EDIT: I tried resizing it as 150x26 but it still give me the same error...

Is it in the customisation/ emoticons /chat friendly emotes category? It will only be recognised as an emoticon if it is in there.
EDIT: I think I've found the one you're trying. Perhaps deviantArt only allows Customization / Emoticons / Chat Friendly Emotes / Small - up to 25x50 / Animated in signatures. Don't know for sure, but all the ones I know that work are in there.

Don't know, yesterday while browsing I've found a 150x11 emote and it was working fine both in comment signature and everywhere else, why mine shouldn't work then? :T

No idea if this will work, but maybe if you get the height under 25px?

I tried making it 150x24 but still nothing...
EDIT: also tried making 100x24 but still won't work :T
EDIT 2: I found the big emotes and is this:
I tried even making my emotes the same size as this one but still gave the same :bademote:. I reuploaded, resized, made it 1x1, everything, there's no guide anywhere about the problem, not even information about the limits. I have totally no idea what the fk is causing that annoying problem.
EDIT 3: Ok I tried making 5 different emotes on a side accounts and seems that now works, even if not animated.

Perhaps it was the file size? I recall it was around 211kb, but the working ones are much smaller than that. Although, your 1x1 attempt probably ended up as small as these others, so maybe not..

Ah, the issue is that that one is in the Digital Art / Pixel Art / Characters / Non-Isometric category. It needs to be in the emoticons category for it to work, like the other one is: Customization / Emoticons / Chat Friendly Emotes / Small - up to 25x50 / Animated

is there a pixel size limit on what's allowed in the signature?

Not that I know of, but it does need to pass as an emoticon to fit in the emoticons category.
