I've always pushed these as great for use as background characters for crowd scenes and such in your various 3D posing projects. They're only 1,500 to 2,000 polys apiece or so, which means you pack a lot of them into any given scene. You can also make them look better or change their outfits with custom and even higher quality textures, too -- or do as I did with Autumn Spring and retexture them with a 1x1 pixel black square for instant "shadow people" for background fill, like you see done a lot in Japanese manga.
