Description
Basic tutorial, for beginners, and I apologize, it was VERY rushed.Okay so I realized I didn't re-upload my Lion Coloring Tutorial when I came back. So I decided to revamp it a little. And make it a little easier. For those who are either, Technology, age, or English challenged.
I included all the little baby steps inbetween, hopefully it's as easy to follow as I think it is. And hopefully there aren't any confusions. This is how I color. You may have a totally different way, that's fine. I'm just sharing how, over the 8 years of digital art I've been doing and learning different short cuts and what not, the system I'm comfortable with.
You can use it for things other than lions, it's just best suited for TLK style coloring and shading. It's meant for all types of Photo shop, and can be adapted for things like gimp, and other programs with some tweaking.
Enjoy, and pick it apart and use what you want from it ^^ I hope if helps.
And if it does send me a link! 8]
And feel free to ask me any questions you may have. (If there are any typos I apologize, dyslexia is a hell of a disease!
For more tutorials, go to my gallery, I have ones on Lineart and shading tips, anatomy, and Backgrounds!

Do you have a screen shot or something I can use to look at, like which brush your using and what the lines look like.

Great tutorial! I just switched to photoshop since Corel Painter doesn't work on Windows 7 and I'm quite confused so I hope this clears things up.
It should, the tutorial is very well done.

I might give this a try. the style I use is similar to this to some extent, well without the gradient shading that I had never thought of before. I just usually invert the main color of the character, darken it some, then use it for the shading.
I'll have to remember to set my shading layer to multiply next time I draw the result here does look much better than just lowering the opacity like I do. good thing I just recently figured out how to do that from an avatar tutorial lol.

I use the expand/contract option a lot in photomanip, but it never occurred to me you could use it in drawing too. O_o

It seems like the expand/contract is a tool hardly anyone realized was there, or that they could use it.

Well, I knew it was there, obviously (very handy when it comes to getting rid of excess pixels when you're combining two images), but as for using it for digital drawing, I didn't know you could use it.

I'm not sure if you can help me, but I have problems finding the right brush to use. I have Corel 11 instead of Photoshop, and though I love the program to death, I can't seem to find the right tool to make my line art look like this! Is there a specific brush name that you know of that will make the lines smoother, but thick??

Alright, thanks! I think I have the closest looking brush- I fiddled around with the program and used your tutorial as a reference.
And I wish I also had Photoshop! XD
