Description Can this be??..... Yes it's true, a new deviation by DKF. I know i haven't submitted anything in a long time. Mainly becouse of a block, just no inspiration to produce something. Sure i could do a piece but i always want to do new stuff.

So why is this different?? Well it's been done with my new wacom. It's entirely done with that exept for the typoraphy ofcourse. It's my first piece completely drawn. I have the wacom for about 3 weeks now and i'm discovering new things about the wacom daily, i love it. This piece was done in about 4-5 hours.

Well enough chatter from me now. Let me know what u think. Please leave some constructive critisism if you have some. Tnx for watching

edit: Wow a DD, how did that happen Anyway, thanks everyone!!!!!

this makes Me speachless, the darkness the tunnel with space vacuumed tornadoes just sucking all the planets in - the play of the light and darkness definitely makes a strong statement

This is an amazing concept, well executed. Seriously, I like the idea behind it! I would have liked to see something more to it though, maybe another planet or something else to really drive the idea home. It's still fun, though!

There is absolutely NOTHING I do not enjoy about this... at first glance I thought it was little space ships flying through a cavern... and it was such a delightful surprise to see how mistaken I was, and how suddenly the whole realm of this piece just opened up in a giant wave. The immensity of this whole orchestration is simply bewildering.

Love it

tis a very cool nebula, but yes, the white sketchy lines seem very out of place [and also, so do the ringed planetoids, but that's from a scientific POV]

I'm going to go with...absolutely stunning. As for crit...I'd go with what most others have said: the planet closest in looks too rough given the overall softness of the picture, and the white lines on the leftmost "pillar" kind of kill it.

Very nice work, man. Looks like you're definitely loving that Wacom! I love the overall darkness to the image...including the lack of stars. It really helps set the mood. Like the title says...'new beginning'. Keep it up...I want to see some more.

I really love this, However what id love to see even more is a combination of your digital spacescapes mixed with the wacom to make a blend between the two.The abstract stalagmite/cloud feel is good i like it. Hopefully we'll be seeing a combination between the two spacescape methods though But none the less excellent piece

Smooth your lines a little bit more. I can see individual penstrokes, which tend to get ugly unless you are going to make the entire thing pretty sharp.

Other than that, beautiful.

Ah! I was wondering where you have gone. It's funny cause I was going through my devwatch list and was wondering where most of them had disappeared to.

Now for constructive critique:

The only thing I see that needs a bit fixing is the second planet inward the lighting of the rings should be dark on the shadow side. To me this image interprets how a galaxy is being born and not many stars are quite visible yet when this happens so I can see why you left them out. If I'm wrong then I must be weird! ^_^* Anyhow I find this different and unique and it does captures the imagination of all possiblities of what you are trying to convey.

lpowell [2007-07-01 19:11:37 +0000 UTC]

I like te cave thing. I don't think it's meant to look like space anyhow (is it?), so the lack of stars fits. It also looks all sketchy and stuff, but with the piece, it works perfectly.

The only critiques I could give is that the places where the color is more red than orange don't seem to match, and there's a lot of black negative space. It's still very cool, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKF In reply to lpowell [2007-07-01 19:55:14 +0000 UTC]

it's meant to be some sort of nebula, so the lack of stars is logical indeed. About the colors, you are right. The right side of the neb was added later on so the color is a bit off. Tnx for the comment

willfire [2007-07-01 17:14:08 +0000 UTC]

Like it a lot. I like the lack of stars, makes it look like a really dusty nebula, I think people seem to over do the stars in space pictures a lot.

There are a few bits that look a little odd though, the edges of the near gas stack on the left at the top look slightly off think its the white blocky bits just on the edges. Also the rings on the second planet look a bit odd with the light. They appear to be getting lighter on the darker side of the planet.

Looks funky though and its good to hear you got passed your block as you have created some stunning pictures.

wcaclimbing [2007-07-01 17:01:43 +0000 UTC]

hmmm...
constructive criticism...

You should add some more stars. It looks too much like a cave for me.
the ringed planet near the center is too bright. it looks out of place. Everything else in the pic is soft and blended, but that planet is really rough-looking.

3.5/5 for me.

I like the perspective and the depth it creates.

The small planet close to the centre looks very rough and not really round. It looks kinda out of place this way.

I like it except the fact it doesnt really look like space.. no stars and stuff.. and the white lines in your nebula.. they dont fit in there nicelly.. but overall its really good
