Description
Well,A small collab with =environaut here. He made this fantastic render and i tought i could spice it up a little. The theme is a rescue mission in a desolate place. Many have died there and when things go wrong they go terribly wrong. It is so cold there that the ice takes a few meters each year destroying everything on it's path. You better not get stuck there although the view is pretty good

Give some credits for this one as well. He definately deserves it.
EDIT: added a reflection of the smaller planet. Tnx to ~e4st-c0re for pointing it out.

Oh... hell... I'd really hate to be the guy shooting the flare. This is an extremely nice drawing. It just screams out with story ideas... and my characters are currently on a cargo ship in a vicious storm...

although it's kinda old and it has some flaws it still is a great scene. Love the dark colors and the depth.

Amazing. I think the piece would look even better if the flare was red and it shined red down onto the land.
One thing you should fix is that there is a little star...? on the land between the small planet and the sun, or did you put that there on purpose?

Totally amazing! BRILLIANT!
Normally I'm rather tired of viewing so many space art images. But this one is nicely understated and even tells a story!
Bravo to both of you!

it has kinda the planet of the apes feel... when the guy walks along the beach and sees the statue of liberty broken in the sand... that weird nostalgic brain-twisty feeling.
I mean that in the best of ways!
beautiful work.

At no time in viewing work here have i kept it in a browser based box. I have always viewed work here as work hanging on a gallery wall. It's always amusing to see comments about "too big and suxs because" or "dude teh compositionz movz all teh overz n00bz!!". Annoying and frustrating to say the least. Now...
Your digital compositing skills are getting very fine tuned. You have this knack for a very drab and dismal mood and it comes across very well. The ton of space you've put to the image reflects the mood very well and makes it lonely. It makes the eye work and it carries itself well. Kudos.

tnx. It's the mood in a piece that makes it complete imo. Tnx for the comment, you got exactly what i was trying to show with this piece

Looking at it from a "gallery" view the piece does carry quite nicely. I suppose I viewed too quickly first time around. The only thing that really gets me is the ship seemingly jammed so close to the left border. It does make you work a bit, and set it apart from what traditional composition theory would suggest in an interesting way. Just seems a bit excessive in my oppinion. To each his own though. Cheers.

I find the composition of the piece very very weak. With planets on far right and the ship setting on the far left, the viewer is left to drift back and forth between the interesting aspects of the piece that have been pushed to the edges. The middle focal point is left empty and relatively uninteresting aside from the flare and birds. The attention to detail in the piece is admirable and effective, but for me the piece is ruined by those compositional factors I mentioned.

Good point. I'd have to disagree though but maybe that is becouse i run my screen on 1920x1200. It gives a good overview of the piece and the composition isn't bothering me at all. But hey that's me and i respect your opinion. Tnx for the constructive critisism

Yeah anything to help man, I considered that at 1920 as a wall it could look really nice, but as a piece of art that's just what I saw.
Cheers.

Absolutely amazing.
one thing. there seems to have a reflection of the big planet on the water on the right; however, what happened to the small one?
besides that, the lighting from the flare is intense n amazing
