Description

Colonel Ekatarina Denisova was the commander of the Tsarina's personal guards regiment.  She was young to be holding such a position, but her posting wasn't due only to the fact that she was from a Don Cossack noble family and was a childhood friend of the Tsarina.  She was widely regarded throughout the army as the finest horsewoman in the Empire, and her skill with a saber was unmatched, as was her courage.  Katya was also fantatically loyal to her liege.  Some averred that this was due to their lifelong friendship, but others whispered that they were much closer than mere friends, that Empress Romanova had a special affection for her most loyal guardian.  But if the whispers were true, the only two people who knew for certain were Anna Romanova and Katya Denisova.  Even the stern nun Rasputina, the Tsarina's closes advisor and, according to many, the real power beind the throne, couldn't say for certain.

This is a totally collaborative effort between myself and Etherea S, we had a lot of fun doing it and we hope you enjoy it.  Part 2 is at her DA site while part 3 is also posted her on my site.

Enjoying the story so far, even though Russian history isn't really my thing. Curious to see what you two would do with Queen Victoria and her consort, Princess Alberta, sometime...

I'm glad you liked it ....history is just an easy background.... tho not necessary to enjoy the story LDS

Alternate history can be a good inspiration for interesting stories, though. Look at Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series, to choose one example.

Err, would you mind not calling me "LDS"? It makes me think of Mormons, which reminds me of California's Prop. Hate--er, I mean Prop. 8, which makes me understandably upset for some reason... (grumble grumble fanatics grumble grumble whose business is it anyway if two people want to marry each other and they're the same gender grumble grumble...)

(Get the feeling I'm real touchy about homophobia?)

The combat, war, are disagreements. In particular, I like to write about peace, love, dating quiet conversation, looks, naughty, smiles, some witty joke. The disagreements were not made for me, and not wars. When you see something like art that you make chloroform girls sweetly expired without yelling, without violence, then you have approval from me.

Colonel Ekatarina does not seem to be a woman to be trifled with. Yet, with her great physical beauty, I am sure everyone tries....only to find out she is as equally strong and dynamic on the inside, as she is breathtaking on the outside.

A lovely image, plus an intriguing story. Her skill with a saber could be unmatched because her opponents are so hypnotized by her beauty. She simply decapitates them while they stare. I'm assuming this image captures the lovey colonel in a wardrobe malfunction moment. If it's not a malfunction, I'd overlook it!

JovianJ [2014-04-25 12:47:29 +0000 UTC]

Amazing! I really love the art and premise. The work on the face in particular, has a wind-blown glow to her cheeks, yet not too much. It really gives that cold-of-Russia impression, while her attire pays enough lip service to it and yet shows off her figure in an alluring manner. I love the textures of the pants, boots and jacket, with the pattern on the latter intricate and interesting. Which speaking of intricate, nice peak of the lacy bra. Good work on the sword, the hilt, as well as earrings, hat and overall outfit, lends itself to the story of royalty. Able to afford more than the simple rank and file, without being too elaborate to not be useful. The long shadow is really well done too. Of course you can't go wrong with such red full lips, very kissable and just pretty to look at under compelling eyes. Both of you did a fantastic job. I'll look forward to the next part later. Brava!

Thank you for the very nice comments JJ --Etherea put a lot work into the costume (--she could do that professionally in Hollywood if you asked me ) an I think she got just the right mix of historical accuracy and sexy fantasy   ... I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Really NEAT!

Among my many hobbies of the past, I used to paint miniature military figures for use in playing table top war games.  I stumbled across a series of "lead" figures  called 'Camp Followers' (can't recall who cast them).  Now for those not familiar with the term, these were women who followed troops around during war campaigns.  I'll leave the rest to your vivid imaginations as to why they would follow the troops.  (Nashville, Tennessee has quite a colorful history of such during the American Civil War.)

The figure series were curvaceous women in accurately portrayed uniforms for 1700 - 1800 era.  I painted a couple (from American Revolution and Napoleonic eras). Like this image, they usually were missing some parts of the uniform or a button or two we not properly dressed.  (In Navy terms, the needed to straighten their lubber line - zipper and buttons of pants, shirt, jacket in the same vertical/center line)

Donna, you've captured the essence of those figures.  Great job with the concept.  Thanks for sharing.  I look forward to part 2 (and 3 and 4 and...?)  Oh, and I did give the image my usual technical once over:  Great textures and lighting though the thong seems too painted on and soft. Not sure why the 'fuzzy bleed over' on the waistline of the pants.  Well balanced pose. Good job on the technical side, too.

(@ Paws:  ummm - not sure the thong was around at that time... but I nit pick.)

Thanks Robert... I've seen similar figures at fantasy shows .... they may have even been an unconscious influence tho the starting point for this idea has to do with both my and Etherea's interest in Russian history and other things Russian.

And we all know that wearing the regulation uniform properly would be boring.    We actually did a version with the same pose but with just thong and boots... I'm still not sure we choose the right version to post with the story!

BrendaConnolly In reply to robert952 [2014-04-26 13:11:59 +0000 UTC]

The thong actually is painted on in a sense. Before Mesh based clothing came about all clothing was texture based, when you wore it, it was basically baked onto your avatar in a separate layer. Fuzziness at the edges is quite common. . Mesh has eliminated that to an extent, but it also creates a problem when adding multiple clothing items sometimes. Because of the alpha layers use to hide body parts  and other issues you sometimes need to wear older , baked on clothes in addition for multiple layers.

I'm not graphics guru, someone can probably explain it better, but that's the general idea. SL art can be very challenging as you are often limited by the availability and quality of items, especially if you don't make them yourself.
