Description
Resident Evil NumaOriginally uploaded on December 20th, 2006
In celebration of Resident Evil Numa's 10 year anniversary, I wanted to re-draw the thumbnail that's been used for the entire duration of the video's upload. Originally I wanted to do an entire REmaster; I don't think that's a secret by this point! But unfortunately between having had a demanding job and then falling seriously ill, all of my plans were severely delayed. I'd still like to do it some day, but now I'd also like to be sure that my abilities are top-notch. I'll likely do a few other videos first, while trying to think of a special day to aim for having Numa REmaster completed.
Thank you all so much who have been with my videos since the beginning!

The simpler times before Googletube, when analytics worked and subscribers watched the channels they were subscribed to. When there weren't millions of content creators competing for ad revenue, and people still cared about Resident Evil like it was still going somewhere. An age when Poopers reigned supreme...
If you worked on one animation frame a day until RE2Make is released, you'd have enough frames for RENumaMake plus other videos. I'm thinking H̶a̶n̶d̶i̶Capcom will release something in 2018, RE2's 20th bday.

Dammit Googletube, bein' a scrooge lately to be honest XD
The old times had their fair share of silly competition... maybe even more so cause it wasn't even about money, but just straight attention-whoring! The things some people did just to be popular and noticed was crazy. And don't get me started on the tracers! So some things did get better with time at least, but I do miss some of the simplicity and innocence from back then, too.
Shit, that's a good point. Though I'd be soooo sad if RE2 REmake winds up as some kind action, RE4-inspired REmake instead of the classic style. Though I suppose, if that were to happen, maybe an RE Numa REmake at that same time could be a little light of hope in the darkness. Or some shit like that XD

Yeah, there was a bit of competition going on back then, especially in the Pooper community. I guess I never really imagined that it'd become some people's livelihoods, ya know? Now it's like a job platform, and not just a place to upload a funny vid and make a few extra bucks. Content creators are legit hurting to pay the bills with the Tube being wonky, it's crayola crayons.
The fandom could really use some inspiration right now. Heck, CAPCOM could use some too. Right now they're working on Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Game under the title of RE7. This's like that time they almost turned RE4 into Devil May Cry. We can only hope enough people bought the RERelease of REMake and RE0 on Steam so RE2 isn't completely modernized. Because money talks, and BS takes a hike. If people mindlessly consume RE7 like a bunch of zombies, Capt̶a̶i̶n̶ I̶n̶comp̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶ will do more dumb sh*t like 5 Nights at U̶m̶b̶r̶e̶l̶l̶a̶'̶s̶ Generic Business Company's.

I wasn't ever really in the Pooper 'tube, but I can imagine. It's pretty funny how pretty much any fandom, sub-genre, and sub-culture all has their own little clique that basically ends up consisting of most of the same people. At least online, anyway. Even all these years later, I'll still end up stumbling on some familiar name that I had thought left the community years ago. But yeah, there's nothing wrong with having YouTube as an actual job in my opinion, but it does just suck what the competition can drive people to do. Clickbait and all that sneaky kinda shit.
And yeah I'm still on the fence with RE7. I mean it's a genre I know I've liked with other games in the past, so I'm hoping it'll at least be scary and entertaining in that respect. Just not sure how it'll hold as a Resident Evil title... though I guess I haven't felt there's been a "real" Resident Evil title since Code Veronica, in terms of new content (REMaster stuff was awesome).

Pooping is what first comes to mind because it was trendy at the time. I remember Poops, Abridging, and fan parodies being a thing when I was introduced to Youtube. Now that stuff is shoved off in the weird parts of the site where normies don't search. The only Abridgers who've somehow survived are LittleKuriboh and TeamFourStar.
You kinda have to be in the big leagues to make Yt a full-time job. Like at least get a million views a month, or more depending on which part of the world you live in. Plus there's no health care and insurance benefits. Basically, it's like the 1% Illuminati tier Tubers who are able to make it work. The rest can only hope it supplements their income. One could even say it's risky turning Yt into a career. I've seen channels get mega popular for like a year and then all of a sudden their subscribers are raptured by Jesus. All it takes is saying something stupid like "All White People Are Racist" to throw all them subs away.
The sad thing about RE7 is that it could be a decent horror game, but if people buy it at full retail then it'll give Capcom a big hard-on and they'll be like "See, we knew those suckers would buy anything with the RE title in it. Continuity? F*ck it! Now let's make a Pokemon Go clone where players encounter Mega Man and all the classic characters behind the back of Denny's. Don't forget to add microtransactions!"
I may be exaggerating, but you never know. There's just nothing that strikes me as overtly Resident Evily about this new game. I'm having a hard time imagining how they can make sequels with these mechanics without them getting old. Capcom's constant attempts to make RE fresh has only made the franchise look outdated. Why don't they just create an entirely new IP as others have suggested? Peeps have compared it to Silent Hill 2 and Outlast, among other things. Remember the Halloween franchise and how the third one had nothing to do with Michael Meyers? That's sort of the feels.

Yeah that seems like something that kinda faded away in the earlier 2000's. The only thing I heard much about anymore is abridged stuff, as you said. And it's probably the same few people you mentioned too, though I can't remember exactly; I don't actively watch but I hear other people mention it from time to time. And yeah, full-time YouTube you basically have to be those Let's Players who upload something literally every day, scream at a screen, go to cons, etc. I think it's more realistic, and definitely more manageable to just have it as a nice side-thing in addition to other work.
I actually was given RE7 (preorder) for Christmas but luckily it was bough from a site that's keen on discounts so hey, at least I didn't get it at full price! It was more like half actually, so score on that. While in the very least it's a genre I find interesting, I do wonder how it'll tie in at all to the originals, if at all. I'm honestly curious and wondering what would even be better; trying to tie it in with a risk of being pandering and stupid, or a completely fresh slate, risking new characters to see if we like them.
Definitely not a fan of their copying to other popular titles though. I've said it a million times by now, but they used to be the innovators that everyone wanted to be; now they're picking up the scraps of the current popular games. I just hope RE7 will actually be genuine and not just a lame PT wannabe and/or VR gimmick.

As I get on in years, there are many things I fail to understand about our changing times. Like why is Pewds so popular? Nothing against him personally, but there are tons of LPers who are funny but nowhere near as successful. Is it because of his boyish looks? There's an artist I started following recently who posts about Pewds in her off time, and all I can conclude is that it has to do with appearances. His channel must fulfill some niche for young girls, because attractive female gamer types tend to get called fake by men and disliked by jealous women.
Don't worry, I wont drag you over the coals for owning RE7. I'm just afraid of this game selling well enough that they'll repeat the formula, like what happened with RE4. Capcom is clearly catering to casual gamers by evoking the style of cancelled PT, and using word of mouth from LPers to younger audiences who have no stake in the matter, no legacy to fight for. The future of the franchise is on the line. It all depends on the reception of RE7 vs RE2Make. I'd hate for them to bring back fixed camera only for it to be sh*t on by people who prefer first person.
What bothers me most is the lack of color. I watched LPers play the demo and couldn't help thinking this game's ugly as sin. There's a gross grayness to the visuals and lack of lighting uncharacteristic of previous titles. Google images of RE7 and then RE2, and it's the difference between day and night. If the final product is anything like the demo then it'd be a drab to draw.
The colors don't even pop compared to the source they're trying to emulate:

This is just my own guess here, but among other things, Pewds kinda started a whole "community" culture. I mean obviously there were existing online communities and subcultures before, but he was one of the first who kinda went out of his way to give his fans a name, that whole "Bro Army" thing, which is very inclusive. And something I've noticed these days are people who are kinda desperate to be part of a "community". So many people nowadays are either trying to start, establish, or be part of one. I mean I like having people to chat with and connect with as much as anyone else, but people expect you to be so personal nowadays, to levels that I'm just personally not comfortable with. I dunno how some of the more popular YouTubers can stand it, but I guess it's just part of their outgoing personalities.
Well I'm really hoping RE2 Remake will stay true to form, because apparently there's been an interview where the developers said they were altering some aspect of the game that was "outdated"... like what else could they mean if not the camera angle? So that's got me nervous as fuck. I will not support RE2 Remake at all if they turn it into some over -the-shoulder garbage. Not a single fucking cent. But if the interview was misunderstood and it's done like Remake? Then I'd definitely get it full price and support the hell out of it. Just hope that interview was some kinda mistranslation or something.
Yo and I feel you on the color. For me RE4 is the biggest offender to date, that game is as brown as a piece of shit throughout the entire span. Except the one underground lava room (????!??!) it's so fucking ugly.

Bit of a late reply:
I agree with the whole cult-like community thing. What people see and hear from artists/entertainers does not often represent their offline real personas. There's a part of society that conflates outgoing personalities with being friendly and confuse friendliness with friendship, via the whole social cues of psychology. Which leads to rabid fanboyism or in some cases stalkers. In the case of Pewds, he's kind of like the Bieber of Youtube. Commenting over video game footage was around before he came along, but hadn't been mainstream because a lot of gamers lacked the attractiveness and charm of someone his age. He was 20 when he started out, and prior to that it was mostly nerdy folks who played old ass games like Battletoads that teens couldn't get into.
Speaking of old ass games...
I think the kinda sorta remake of Friday the 13th on the NES is shaping up to be a decent survival horror game. I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I did play the original back in the day as well as seen most of the movie. Apart from some glitches, it seems like a more competent execution of what RE7 looks to be going for. There's an emphasis on hiding and running over fighting, so if that appeals to you then you might wanna check it out. Haven't played it myself but have been binge watching others play the Beta. It has a few elements that RE7 currently lacks. Namely good music (think RE1/2) and actual colors (though the lighting is dark). Like the characters are well designed, albeit a little uncanny valley. You can be a goth chick or a black lady or Fred from Scooby Doo. Sucks for Capcom that they don't have actual characters to use in promotional materials for RE7.
Here's a trailer for the latest update if you're curious (hoping they add Purple Jason at some point):

Yeah, it's funny too since PewDiePie just released some video about YouTubers being fake and overly positive, admitting he used to be like that as well. It kept popping up in my "recommended" so I caved and watched it. So I guess the theory wasn't all that far off, and now since then, it's become a sort of epidemic across YouTube. With the way some people behave, it really is more like a cult culture. I've always thought celebrity worship was pretty ridiculous, and some people really take it too far.
Oh yeah I've been peeking at beta footage of the Friday the 13th game for a little while now, it looks really fun to play with a group of friends. There's been similar games before like Damned and Dead by Daylight, but they're pretty low-budget glitchy games that make you feel like you're playing a beta. I'm hoping this'll turn out amazing in gameplay and quality.
