Angkor Wat!? That place Is so cool I dont think anyone could help but be inspired by it. Surely something to add to my list of things to do before I die.

Oh it's an amazing place. I didn't actually go to Angkor Wat this year (although I have been before) but I was in the East of Thailand and there are a few Khmer Temples scattered around which were built when the land was Khmer before the border got pushed across. It's quite cool actually, even though you're in Thailand, the moment you walk onto temple grounds you are technically on Cambodian soil.
And yes, you must go there. i have been several times and it is one of the most surreal, otherworldly type places. When you are in the temples there just doesn't seem to be the same sense of time. Very atmospheric indeed

Indeed a must to visit then! Geographically near by those temples there are some artificially created islands I think, are the Khmer also responsible for their creation?

I'm not sure... Unless you are thinking about the Tonle Sap lake which is situated between the capital Phnom Penh and Siem Reap where the hub of Khmer temples is located. It takes six hours to cross the lake and when you are in the middle it's like being in the ocean because you can't see any land. Quite strange indeed... But as far as I know that is natural. Maybe they constructed some islands within it?

[link] heres what I was thinking of I believe these artificial islands are an extension of the same parent culture as Ankor...

Aaaah I get you now. I've never been to the Solomon Islands but I'd love to go. I might be mistaken but I think geographically they're closer to Australia and Fiji than Asia, but you're right, similar kind of ancestry in terms of culture and tradition.

Yeah I need to do some research, supposedly a long as time ago there was a wide spread Hindu or Buddhist culture, civilization, and trade route back then. []
