Description
Extra page this week because I got a little ahead.I guess the rumors were true. But... does it really matter?
The second panel is my favorite part. Jupes doesn't even care about the explanation--what a happy dork, making up for lost kisses.
Oh, and don't worry: I don't believe it's women's sole duty in life to have children. But this part of the comic takes place in the 19th century, and Barbara's no radical so... there you have it!
But... maybe you can count her in with the suffragettes later on in life.

'A duty to bare children?' But you've already had a child! Your duties done! Go! Be happy with Jupiter! You owe nobody nothing!

totally awesome page!! I love Jupes being so happy he doesn't really care about the answer for now
as for the children, I think it adds to the historical context of their relationship... so it's really clever and don't worry, I've never thought your were a "women-must-have-children" freak and, mind you, as a childfree girl, I generally spot those a mile away

*slams both fists on table* NOW THIS IS THE ROMANTIC FLUFFY CRAP I NEED TO SEE MORE OF IN MY LIFE
...thinking on it now, I can imagine a few (mainly thematic) parallels between this flashback and the latter portions of theΒ Wife of Bath's Tale from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Both analyze the role of women in marriage, albeit in different eras, and contain similarly fluffy endings. :3
