Description
Shadowrun "Attitude".It won the Silver Award at GenCon 2011 for Best Roleplaying Game Cover Art.
This was actually supposed to be the cover for "Arsenal" - hence why it's an illustration of Shadowrunners in an "Arsenal" - but the writers kidnapped it and forced it onto the book "Attitude". Despite winning an award for the cover, I can't help but know in my heart that if was assigned to an illustration for a Shadowrun book titled "Attitude" that I could BLOW this one away. In contrast, I doubt you'll see a better cover for "Arsenal" than this illustration of an actual "Arsenal".

I have to admit when I play Shadowrun this is "The Dream" of my characters.
A well-stocked, secure lair with all your amazing gear laid out within easy grasp for a job at a moment's notice.
That being said, I usually start off with characters who are just starting off, themselves. Guys living out of their suitcases, a small house or a low-rent apartment (or in once case a Shipping Container) eager to reach for that elusive brass ring.
I have yet to reach that point with any of my Shadowrun characters but it's still cool to have "That Dream".
Great picture. Sorry to hear it didn't go to the book you were hoping for.

To be fair, your characters never look as good as "Caution-Tape Girl".

That's not fair at all.
I did this cover at an enormous size so it could be blown up to a wall-graphic (which they use). It was a labor of love and it took me six weeks - she alone took 4.5 days but you can't see all her glory until you see her at full size. They barely paid me anything at all for it - but I worked so hard because it was a chance to be on a MAJOR cover for the Shadowrun - my personal favorite game of all time. And then they pulled the cover switch on me and I've never forgiven them - and never put as much work into a cover since.
They only pay $75 for a character and you're comparing those I have to paint several of in a single day to this one I did over the most of a week.
I have new characters coming out now for MAGE20 that I'm really proud of and a new cover for Shadowrun that Laz is jumping head-over-heels for, but realize that I'm pretty much doing these things for free. My main job is advertising and package illustration. Those pay my bills so I can do these fun projects.
Ask any artist in the gaming industry - nobody gets paid enough to live on and the only times work comes out stellar is when the artist has the time and money to do them on their own. I'm still waiting to get paid for a cover I did for Catalyst a year ago.

That's tragic. I heard about this happening to their writers too. Makes me not want to buy their books. That aside, this is a stellar cover. It's beautiful and kicks ass. Love your style.

Please buy their books - or I won't have any more covers to do for them.

I know that feeling too well. I sent them some ideas for SR5 and i had an apprehension about not being noticed or thanked in any way for that, so i only sent them 10 (of at least 60+ ideas for weapons, equipment and other stuff). Never got ANY answer. But the negative acknowledgment! they used EVERY idea exactly that way I gave it to them in SR5.
Conclusion: Never again :/

What an awesome hideout! One could spend a long time looking at this, and probably still miss some details. I especially like the heli-drone and the caution tape belt.

I put sooooo many details into this one. Like the cat wearing the bullet on it's collar, the radio-shack drone with a sony camera and 45 caliber revovler ("Ankle-Biter"), the fishing pole, the IOU in place of an assault rifle, a chalk outline, the troll lighting his cigar with a flame thrower, the tentacle, Mr. Grabby (most peolple's favorite) and hundreds of others...

Love this cover. Did you do the one for Spy games, too?

Aha, well done on those. I really liked the war cover with the transparent globe thingee. Well cool.

Man I used to play table top shadowrun back in my high school days. Feelin ooold! But this looks badass, so it's all good! I'd say there's sufficient attitude in the lady's demeanor to make that title quite adept.
Love seeing all this shadowrun work from you! It's very nostalgic. Makes me want to pick up and play again! I'll definitely have to check out the new manuals and see all the new art, as mine are a bajillion years outdated now!
