I just realized how many parts are required to build creations like this... its a lot and did you ever start over because 1 major part of it didnt really go with the rest (like the legs on my kaiju which is still being made)

ejaylee In reply to Vorchin [2016-04-22 12:21:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is quite a challenge with the amount of pieces required. As a matter of fact I am in the process of revamping the whole damn thing. Fixed the knees and arms and am figuring out a head.Β Will not be done anytime soon though

Oh, you're making a Kaiju? I am excited for this!

Vorchin In reply to ejaylee [2016-04-23 05:33:21 +0000 UTC]

yeah I made the legs then I realized it didnt fit with the rest of the body so im going to remake the whole thing but this time starting with a skeleton

ejaylee In reply to Vorchin [2016-04-23 10:23:26 +0000 UTC]

Here's a tip: DON'T.

Stick to building from the legs up, because by the time you get to the torso you'd realise the entire MOC just couldn't hold itself up. Dem knees.

By the bold scalp of Kratos ! This is a true beast of a MOC !!! Great job with the head also, although the leg joint could need a bit more work, like a bit more coverage. But still epic !!!

Congrats Jay. You have a colossus MOC.

Things I like about it: The head and the chest. The feet are cool to.

Things I dislike about it: The thighs- I think they're too gappy and just generally sloppy looking. I also think they could be thicker.

And that's my on this without going really really in depth and critical. I mean I can, but I know you're still working on it. My biggest advice is more personal preference based; that is to clean everything up a bit more. Solidify the color scheme and maybe smooth everything out more to give it a better sense of flow throughout the MOC. it has it in some areas ,like in the front torso, head and lower legs, but it falls apart in the arms and upper legs I think.

Β Man, I'm really overdue for another Colossus MOC.

Yay

GaH! D:

Thanks Dave That's great advice right there, now I know what to focus on with the Mark Two. But what do you mean by 'better sense of flow throughout the MOC'?

Ya think? Make it a grand comeback!

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to ejaylee [2014-11-27 15:04:03 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. I mean a netter sense that its all one cohesive unit, and not this section, then that section. Using parts that all look similar to throughout so that it doesn't necessarily look built in stages.

I've always thought Ryakk had a nice sense of flow, Furnace to. While Mototaur, not so much. I really wasn't happy with his lower arms and his lower legs because they felt kind of cobbled together. There was also a great lack of cohesion in his color scheme. I wanted that though when I first made him. I didn't want this tight color scheme that was all blocked out, I wanted a flurry of color all over the place. In his future revamp I think I still want something like that, but I want to change what colors those are. More browns and less yellows, and maybe cut out Gunmetal since it wasn't there a whole lot.

On Alpha Sentinel, I see a lot of use of panels on his torso, I'd bring that back into his arms and legs to so that the visual aesthetic of that type of part is motifed throughout the MOC. Panels aren't cheap though, so I understand if there's a lack of them. Might be worth getting more of em if you can though. They're a great easy way to make a MOC look more solid than it really is.

ejaylee In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2014-11-29 09:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. Yes yes indeed, I see what you mean, they sure are magnificent! Naw, I think that is the charm of Mototaur, part beast and machine eh?

Oh, the colour scheme, I thought Alpha Sentinel had it. Red head, torso, shoulder, and thigh; yellow limb ends.

Yea, buying those panels was quite the challenge as they are soooooooo pricey and heavy (USPS, GAH!)

Thanks Dave

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to ejaylee [2014-12-01 23:43:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Well that was sort of part of the idea, but the execution lacked. That's why I ultimately did away with him. I just needed to do better and the only way to do that was to start over. And now I've distributed his parts to other MOCs so now I just wanna wait till I can do good ol' Moto justice.

Isn't there both kinds of yellow and orange on him to though? I just figured you were using all the warm tones, red, dark red, orange, and both yellows.

You could have bought them from a German store. They always have a ton of them and it might be different/better international shipping. Panels are pricy, yeah.
