Description
tinydAmn allows you to take full use of your screen estate, and is especially useful when you're on a low screen resolution. If you've ever tried using dAmn on a low resolution (800x600 or perhaps even lower), you'd know that it's not always easy as pie. Often times there are not room for many posts and if the chatroom has a huge-ass topic or title, it may even be possible that you can't see the chatroom at all. What tinydAmn does:
tinydAmn removes most of the margins and paddings around dAmn, while still retaining all the functionality and even adding new functionality. For example, you can still see all your messages and use the popup menus at the top, tinydAmn won't stop you from doing any of this. But here comes the awesome part: It'll add a new feature that shrinks the topic+title and userlist so you can focus on the chat. Granted, it's probably a good idea you read the topic and title in a room, but if you've already done so, it's kinda annoying having them there when you don't really need them. So just click the arrow in the top right and they're gone! When the userlist is shrunk, you can still see the members by mouseovering the visible part of their username, and the information about the user, including the full username will pop out as normal. To show the topic etc. again, simply click the arrow again!
Of course you don't have to have a low resolution to use this. You can also use it if you just want your dAmn to be a bit more slim and compact.
Requires Mozilla Firefox and the Greasemonkey extension. If you have this, and have dAmn open while installing, reload it to finish the installation.
There is a known bug that it might not initialize correctly and you end up with a look that's half tinydAmn and half ordinary dAmn (or simply with a big margin at the bottom). This only happens once in a while and to fix this, simply type /clear (or /join another chatroom). Easy, huh?
Thanks go to =miksago for helping me with some code when I was stuck and =Caektiems for constantly testing my scripts.
Edit 2008/04/29: Now works with revised dAmn appearance.

I'm not going to complain about the lack of an arrow. Simply because other people already have.
I do love this, though. It's very nice, and frees up a lot of space. I think when the arrow's fixed, I'll change my personal version so it toggles the visibility of the user list entirely.

Yeah, when this script was made, it was made for an entirely different dAmn layout, as you can probably see on the screenshot. The HTML code has changed since then, and I haven't had time to update this. Sorry about that. Maybe some time soon.

I can update it. I can rewrite it, if you're alright with that. Then you can upload them in this one's place, and things'll be all good once more~
lol

If you can, that'd be cool. I think the fix is pretty trivial anyway.

Well, I've got a few different ideas for it. I'll have to test it out from my own computer first, but still. XD

The arrow isn't showing up for me
I'm using FF 3.0.5 and the only scripts I left active are Zikes' emote script and dAmn colours. Disabling all the other ones didn't seem to help
I refreshed dAmn a bunch of times and left and opened it in a new tab, but nothing is working. Any idea what could be messing it up?

This was due to an error in my code because it wasn't updated the script to adapt to a HTML change on the dAmn chatroom page. I finally fixed it today, and it even only took a couple of minutes. Silly me!
I hope it works now! And if the arrow still doesn't show up in dAmn, try clearing cache with Ctrl+F5.

Is there any chance you could offer the source for this? I've been using TinydAmn since it came out and it HAS been very useful.
But I really want to take it one step further. I'd like to customise the font size, etc. Think that'd be possible? Thanks.

Download tinydamn.js and tinydamn.css (or their tinydamn-uc equivalents), edit them as you like, upload them some place (or maybe have a server on your own machine) and link the userscript to those.
Until I rewrite the script to have it all in the userscript, that is the way to go about it.

Man, this post is old, but I still wanted to hear if it's been fixed now, because I just fixed a stupid lil' error that has made half of the script dysfunctional for many months now.

Any way to remove the arrow? It messes up my tabs, because I'm in a lot of rooms.

The arrow is so small (only 9 pixels wide) that I'm afraid it wouldn't make much of a difference to have it removed. If you're in a lot of room, it's kinda inevitable that at some point it'll break up to two rows -- and dAmn should be able to handle that without big cosmetic problems. May I ask how it "messes up your tabs" so I can see if it's a tinydAmn problem?

flyinghamsterofdoom In reply to electricnet [2008-04-28 20:12:02 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. Maybe it's the order, but at seemingly random points, the arrow sends one of my tabs into a middle line, just under the arrow, making it three lines, instead of two. So I was wondering, because having it removed would allow the tabs to have the space to stay on two lines. Having this happen creates auto-scrolling problems, with my chat windows. I can get your some screenshots, if you'd like.
Thanks for responding, I know little things like this can be a hassle.
