after seeing so much selfishness in the people I used to call my friends, it never ceases to amaze me how much generosity there is in people I don't even know!
Thank you for sharing!

Great tutorial! That's pretty much the same way I made my Fireball necklace in the other gallery (without the lacing and all ) Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting this, it's a really well put-together tutorial. How do you make the original layout? Is there a program for turning designs into bead designs or are you coloring dots by hand?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ellygator In reply to syprina [2006-10-14 12:41:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I use a program called "Beader" written and sold by one Ed Hand. However, I have not been able to find it on the internet for some time now (my copy is quite old). Basically it allows you to load a template for Brick, Peyote or Weaving and then color it using a flood-fill tool. Or you can load and convert bitmap files and then tidy those up.

Good to know that suchprograms are out there. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

Wow, that is very interesting. And it looks like very long work ! I totally admire your patience, as I tend to get restless after working on a project for a while. I guess that is why I sew, and I don't knit.

Das ist sehr interessant ! Hier sieht man einmal ganz direkt, welch wahnlinnige Arbeit dahinter steckt.

Thank you very much for this tutorial! I'll make sure to visit all the other ones in your scraps to get 100% exact idea of how it is done! But I got the main idea!
It's definitely a lot of work but I think the end result is worth the time!
Thank you once again!

Thanks! It's a bit much to absorb in the beginning, but once you have the basics down it's so much fun to invent your own patterns and get going! The best of luck!

nylon thread; is that just like fishing line? like a plastic thread? or is it beading thread? I just recently had one of my bracelets 'shred' it's own thread - so do you use plastic-y thread?
and, what are those blue dotted things? (one near the shears and one near the bead vials)
Thankyou for the instructions. It is beautiful. Maybe i will make it! are those delicas or just regular old seed beads?
and, as usual, i love your work! goregeous.

Ellygator In reply to Glacier-Grrl [2006-10-12 13:27:32 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
I guess the nylon thread could be used as fishing line if it was a bit thicker. Sometimes it's sold as "invisible yarn", but yeah, essentially it's just plastic thread. I don't like to use silk because of all the fraying you get, and because you can't pass it through these small beads more than once, maybe twice. If you needed something more robust I recommend a thin variety of "fireline" which is fishing line, and if you can haul up a 6 pound salmon with it, it will sure stand up to being in a bracelet.
The blue and white things are a beaded sheath around my needle container and another sheath for my shears. (Just playing with my beads...)
As to the bead size, they are regular seed beads, but not the usual standard 11 size. They are the smaller 15s. If you made the bracelet like that with 11s, it would proabaly be too large and slip off your wrist.
