I've been searching for wire locket tutorials for ages!!! Of course, never found a free one, except yours! Thank you so much for this tutorial! The pendant is great, I like so much the tehniques it requires! I have only 0.7 mm diameter wire... I have no idea how it will look like after I finish the locket, I'm quite curious about that! ) Anyway, I think this tutorial will help and inspire me a lot in the art of making lockets! Thank you very much! :-*

Sigh. I really wanna make something like this but I can't even get my wire wrapped quartz pendants to look exactly how I want them to. I just know I would end up wasting soooooo much wire and money on this :/

Kairi0Hearts >> I also have great frustration in with simply wraps. This is a BIG project, and I'm not going near it - yet. Β  Some day, yes. For practicing / starting out, I suggest COPPER WIRE. If your wrap turns out nice, copper is a great wire for resale. You don't have to use Silver / Gold Filled! To purchase a good quality at low price, I've been told this is just about best place to buy:Β  www.artisticwire.com/Artistic-… . I've learned that buying 16/18/20/22/24/26 ga wire in both "Bare Copper" and "Natural Copper" will give you different colors of copper, and all the size wires usually required. Some tutorials say to use 28 and 30 ga. I've not tried them yet. To change your color of copper, "antique / oxidize" it, using GUN BLUE (Amazon) or LIVER OF SULFER (more $$), and a polishing cloth (Amazon). Lots of FREE tutorials on YOUTUBE to learn weaving b4 going onto harder projects. If you DO want to go into SILVER wire, I've been told thatΒ  www.riogrande.com/Home is good for HUGE amount of goodies. Also carry 18 & 16 ga Artistic Wire, same as above site.

Hope some of this helps! -- PEACE ...

Hi,
Where do you get such heavy wire in a large quantity? Do they sell it a hobbylobby? That is my staple craft store...I had wire but it was way too thin. ;(

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

AMyriadVice In reply to chika365 [2013-06-06 04:18:44 +0000 UTC]

Hm, The Ring Lord will have some. I haven't gotten into stocking it myself at [link] but I CAN create a specific order for you there if you wish. Just note me there. (We're also having a storewide coupon promotion until the weekend, incidentally.)

And sorry for the late reply! Damned life, always gets in the way.

Rio Grande is a good source of wire. They're online only but the shipping is worth it IMO because their prices and variety are much better than what you can find in a craft store.

karolinaaz In reply to AMyriadVice [2013-01-19 11:39:04 +0000 UTC]

I might actually do that I bought some wire the other day - but I can't seem to find "anything" to use as a front (for some reason they must be out of fashion in Sweden! Every store I've been to had none...), which means I'll probably have to order it online and that may take a while
But your tutorial is great and I'll sure use it when I have everything!

AMyriadVice In reply to karolinaaz [2013-01-20 01:41:05 +0000 UTC]

And I've shipped to Sweden before, and don't recall there being problems, anyway.
