Is the kimono wrapped to the right only for women? I thought men wrapped it the other way? Thanks for the great resource!

That's interesting. I could've sworn I was told by a Japanese woman that it was different for men and women. Do you know if it might be for other cultures that wear kimonos?

Simply educational. You did great job!! O_O Some say its so easy to draw kimono, but I'm sure that there's some things that we should take note, especially #1. It sounds plain, but its important. Crucial. XD

Elruu In reply to cottonwings [2009-01-22 10:54:56 +0000 UTC]

yeah, the number one is most important
Actually it's difficult to draw kimono because of the sleeves. They tend to shape in most unpredictable ways

Elruu In reply to kir-tat [2009-01-10 11:45:51 +0000 UTC]

Кимоно длинное, чтобы укоротить его, делают горизонтальную складку. Таким образм можно подогнать кимоно под свой рост.

это наверно на подростков так шили - с запасом?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elruu In reply to kir-tat [2009-01-10 16:59:53 +0000 UTC]

не совсем, кимоно изначально очень длинное. оно же передаётся в семье из поколения в поколение, а все разного роста. я не спец, возможно это пришло со временем, в эпоху Хэйян, вроде, кимоно с подолом по полу.

I know I've already said it (I think), but I love you for doing this! It is very informative, simple and easy to understand. Thanks so much!!

Small typo on #11, by the way. Ankle is written anckle. #8 sew should be sewn I think. Sorry...I'm an editor at heart.
