Description
Out in the wasteland one truly scary monster is a raider Death Rig. Converted from a freightliner truck, these beasts really bring the pain. Two super charged engines give the rig incredible power and speed. Reinforced battering grill, jacked suspension, extra fuel tank and redneck armor make it hard to stop. Hood mounted machine gun, passenger mounted .50 cal and roof mounted plasma cannon, give it the edge even at a distance. Whether at a distance or up close the death rig lives up to its name. Almost unstoppable, it’s a real Juggernaut!
Here is my finished 1/32 Death rig, featuring kitbashed, scratch built, resin and bits bin details. Bashed from a Revell Snap Tite Freightliner model, this project was built as a trade with . The base model was absolute crap and took a ton of work to get it to even look like a truck. Most of the work will never really show as it was required to even get the thing together (did i mention how crap the base kit was) anywho once i got the bashing done the painting was pretty fun, with my standard raider colors. A few things could have been a bit better and a few features were left off due to time constraints (i really wanted to just get it finished and move on) but overall i am happy with what i was able to accomplish and i hope its new owner enjoys it.
As always questions, comments and suggestions welcome.

Considering how old the base tools are and how much you hated them (which is fair given wear, and the multi-build base) this came out really great.

Thanks! it wasn't just eh ware or the kits parts not fitting correctly, the warping of the parts became the biggest problem. the frame was sooo warped there was no way for all the four wheels to even sit flat if assembled with it. when i started this i was not prepared for having to build a frame from scratch.

And there's just too much stuff sticks up or down for the tape down and hot water trick to work.

i tried a few different things to fix it. placing it under some heavy books and a hot hairdryer and book combo. nothing seemed to work, so the frame was built from scratch and the axles(also quite warped) had to be cut up and fitted to the new frame.
really there was no way for someone to build this thing outta the box and have it look anywhere near ok. sad that it is being sold as a beginner kit at wallmart, as this is the kinda model i would of throw in the trash as a beginner.

Yeah, I'd actually blame that on bad packing (this sometimes happens) rather than a worn-out tool.

might of been but there was problems with the build as well. ie pegs without holes, holes for parts that were non-existent . square pegs that's were to fit into round holes ect. it really was obvious that it was a Frankenstein of kits and that it would never go toghter without serous work. for the price you can get some really nice bandai or tamiya model as well. all in all it was the worst model i have ever had my hands on.

Mental! Since it's a raider truck, some graffitis would have been cool, but I like that one.

thanks! yea i totally get what you are saying. when i was working on it i was stumped as to what to write for markings/graffiti. i didn't want to hold up on finishing this model and it looked alright so i left it. but after looking a photos, it does look a bit bare in some spots.

Great post apocalyptic theme beautifully executed! Some weathering might enhance the outcome. Revell should make a model out of it!

thank you very much! there are some areas that really could use more weathering(the front wheel wells) before i ship it off i might have to add a bit here or there.
not to talk myself up, but revell would be wise to do something like that. sure a kit of this would sell much better than the crappy base kit i used.

Was really cool and was digging all of the vehicles and explosive action! Might be quite challenging to make some of those triple stackers but not impossible. Just use lots of super glue!

Transforming the kit from that to this is pretty much one of the the greatest satisfaction in modding projects. Not only love doing this myself but also love seeing how fellow hobbyists pull them off.
