Description I really can't stand people being proud of:1. Race/Skin Color
2. Country of Birth/Origin/Nationality
3. Sexuality/Gender Identity
4. Gender (in general)
5. Species
6. etc.And other things that they cannot control and are not responsible for.

Pride is a sin, so baking yourself in gay/straight/black/white/clown pride is a problem. Having a little self-appreciation for something you've done, however, is very healthy! Confidence is a good thing, but give yourself credit over something that's worthwhile and something you can truly say is yours.

Yeah, do I like having 10 toes? Sure, it's great. But I'm not gonna sit around sayin, "10-toe pride!" (actually I think this needs a stamp now). Edit: Done. [link]

Be proud of something that you did, not something that you are, and have no control over.

Sorry, that's my opinion on "pride" of any kind. I got plenty to be proud of, and it's got nothing to do with what I was born with or who I like to have sex with. I am a big supporter of activism, and I am part of the LGBT community myself, but seeing "pride" can really get on my nerves. We're all like, "WE CAN'T HELP IT, WE'RE BORN LIKE THIS" and then we're like "I'M PROUD 2 B GHEY." It's kind of a mixed message, because it implies that we contributed to out LGBT-ness.

It's not about pride of our identities

It's pride of how far we've come, how much hate we've dealt with, and how others before us have paved our way to equality and freedom, and in the future, the best generations will look back on others that have paved the way to their equality

We ARE being proud of our achievements. For many of us, we're lucky to be alive with our identities or skin colors. Abusive families will target their children just for their identities or skin color(adopted children)

Please don't misunderstand. We are just proud of how far we've come, and how much farther we need to go and then appreciate those accomplishments when they come.

We're celebrating that we're still here, despite all attempts to silence us. We are still fighting for our equality as long as we exist

i'd just like to stop in and say

LGBT+ pride month

Black pride mothΒ

and such celebrations- are not necessarily about just being proud you are something other than cis/straight/white
Β it's about the obstacles that have been overcome by past and present generations to abolish the hate and ignorance surrounding people who identify as otherwise. As well as not being -ashamed- of not being cis/straight/white, on the accordance of hate. A lot of people died and suffered just to be treated like the majority, and a lot of us around the world still struggle with even that much..that is all

Totally agree with that, and i just LOVE this stamp !

Patriots are complete idiots. I dont understand this hole " look you`re living two miles away from me, but because a border is between us we`re dfifferent !!!! "

I also dont get why people are proud of their damn skin-color i am proud of that what i achieved in my life and on nothing other.
Supremacists are the most stupid people on earth, we are all anyway africans and so you dont have to "protect your heritage" and your "dying and worthfull culture " !

I'm not proud that I am gay. Im proud that I have told my friends and family, since we live in a society that doesnt like people different from themselves.

Anyway I actually love this.

No really I don't see a point in boasting about what you were born with, because it's just the genetic roulette, or what you own, because belongings do not make you a better being. In both case it just is luck, and there is no point in glorifying about being lucky. You have a lucky star, so what? Unless you can make it work for your beloved ones and other people it's just vain.

There's a difference between being proud to be gay, and being proud that you can accept who you are.

Sometimes people take gay pride too far, and forget that it isn't "gay pride," it's "acceptance."

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enterprising-bones In reply to Lexenos [2010-09-07 23:11:46 +0000 UTC]

Right. Well "Gay Pride" is being proud of being gay. Lolz.

Lexenos In reply to enterprising-bones [2010-09-08 01:14:15 +0000 UTC]

Uh, that's what I said. ._.; Did I screw up the words again? Dx

I meant, you shouldn't have "gay pride," you should be proud that you can accept yourself.

enterprising-bones In reply to Lexenos [2010-09-08 08:29:36 +0000 UTC]

sugarpoultry In reply to enterprising-bones [2010-09-07 23:20:33 +0000 UTC]

That's the exact same thing he mentioned above. Accepting who you are, that's part of pride, and no, it isn't always a sin.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enterprising-bones In reply to sugarpoultry [2010-09-07 23:47:16 +0000 UTC]

But pride in spite? That's hate. And pride is a sin. Gee, even the Bible says that one.

sugarpoultry In reply to enterprising-bones [2010-09-08 04:00:56 +0000 UTC]

One shouldn't judge that having pride for something is a sin. That's judging.

FFFF FINALLY~
I am so glad someone finally made this stamp O:
It bugs me so much when people are like "I'm black and proud" or "I'm male and proud"
I mean, you did nothing to become black or male or whatever it is you are going on about. You were born that way. (Well, technically you can later become male through surgery but that is not the point lol )
Anyways, I love you for making this stamp xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enterprising-bones In reply to songo714 [2010-09-07 23:02:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

It's OK to be proud of yourself and who you are and thing's you've done... but when people are proud of things they cannot control, they are taking credit for something they didn't do.
