Description
This image was created for a competition on [link] , where the objective was to turn the following concept art into a photorealistic matte painting: [link]The contest was fun and very challenging. I worked a good 50 hours on my entry and there are still many things I'd like to change but I just can't work on it anymore and time until deadline has run out anyway.

I don't expect to win anything, but I learned a lot during the process and now I have a cool piece in my gallery. It will also be part of my 2013 calendar.

Hey Erik! Sehr schönes composing, vorallem die Wolken. Es sieht aus wie ein Wolken-Paradies. Die wolken sehen so realistisch aus. Wie geht man da vorran? Man malt und fügt Bilder hinzu? Wie geht sowas?

man muss halt gucken, dass man Bilder findet, die ungefähr von Belichtung und Perspektive her passen. Die Übergänge zwischen den Bildern male ich dann hinzu. So mach ich es, aber es gibt natürlich auch jede Menge anderer Techniken. Andere malen erst alles und verwenden dann die Photos als Texturen. Hauptsache man hat am Ende eine zusammenhängende glaubwürdige Szene.

It's really awesome!Es ist einfach wahnsinnig toll. Aber wenn ich ehrlich bin, mag ich die gemalten Wolken, die du den Raumschiffen nachgeschickt hast und rechts diesen Wolkenkanal umgrenzen lieber als die Photoelemente. Sie haben ein bisschen was von Ölmalerei und von daher eine ganz eigene Präsenz. Das ist vor allem im linken Bild Bereich gut zu merken, weil es sehr gut zu den Raumschiffen und den genial verblendeten Lichtern passt. Ich finde das Bild aber allgemein wirklich sehr gut komponiert. Ich hätte die Raumschiffe wahrscheinlich zentral gesetzt, aber dann hätte man keine so schöne Wolkenlandschaft inszinieren können.

Zum Bild: Im Prinzip ist alles irgendwie Photo, aber auch wieder nicht. Aber ich weiß schon was du meinst. Persönlich bin ich nicht so begeistert von der linken Seite, da sie eher unnatürlich wirkt, wie eine Felswand.

Kein Ding. Manchmal überfällt es mich und wenn ich dann auch noch Deutsch schreiben darf..
Grad das unnatürliche finde ich gut dran, aber ich versuche ja sowieso immer vom Photo zum Gemalten zu kommen. Wahrscheinlich sehe ich es deswegen als reizvoll an.

I'm very interested by your last work (your work in general) but specially your last piece. I used to go on Behance or Facebook to follow other artist, because I've stopped DA (I don't really like the run of Previews and Daily Feature ...). But I seen that I'm forced to come back to follow artist like you
