It's been what feels like forever since my last submission, so I'm very happy to have finished this piece. This one is a custom order, and while it's different to what I originally planned, I'm still pleased with the result.
...And I never want to see another freaking Overlay layer ever again. Ermagherd. SO MANY.

I've been good! School and sports have me busy every night, and I've actually started riding english with Roxy!
It's so exciting and so different - Roxy's taking it really well! I've got two saddles and hoping to start lessons soon.

Do you use a very vaired range of colours on your manes? they look wonderfull i reckon i need to improve my pallet and also what brush sizes do you use?

I try to yes - I usually use about four or five different colours, and always follow up with several Overlay or Soft Light layers that help to create the lighting on the hair and give the hair a color that matches the horse/background. For example, in this work because the piece had such an intense blue tint to it, I had to add a Soft Light layer over the hair that was colored blue. This gave the hair the perfect blue tint to make it suit the rest of the manip.
I use a variety of brush sizes, usually 4px for painting the base layer, 3px for most of the highlighting/lowlighting work and 2px for the tips of the hair and other wispy pieces.
Keep in mind I work on a relatively small canvas - about 1000px - so if you use a larger canvas, you may need to increase your brush size to suit.
