This is my entry for HL's annual holiday-themed layout contest (UPDATE:I won!). Last year I did a Christmas-sy entry (Those Christmas Lights ) so this year I wanted to focus more on winter instead. I wanted to make something beautiful and serene and a bit magical too, so here it is - a horse's cold breath magically morphing into an image of a giant snowflake. :3

DO you think you would be willing to do another mane tutorial because your one on here know is amazing but different i think i perfur this style or is there just the idea of using harsher colours wider range of colors? i dont know i just want to improve!!

The current hair tutorial I have up is in my old style, you're right. The hair on this work is definitely in my newer style, so I'll make a newer hair tutorial very soon for that. :3
It's more about using a wide range of colours, I use about five or so now, compared to the two or three colors I used when I wrote the old hair tutorial.

how long do you spend on your mane and tails? and on the overall piece? i feel i rush mine and they never turn out as good as yours! well yours are super doper amazing!

I usually spend about 5-8hrs on a piece depending on its complexity - this particular piece took about 5hrs spread over a day, and I spent about an hour of that on the hair.
The key is to spend time on the hair and use at least 5 different shades (rather than just a highlight, base and lowlight) to create a lot of depth.

I'm sure a lot of other eager-to-learn manipulators like me, you love a how to use a mouse mane tutorial. I would love that. But (like a lot of people) I have dumb ole Gimp.. maybe you could experiment with it and help me with manes. c:
Mine always looks stiff and BAD a couple tips from you would help me a lot.

Ah, yes - painting manes and tails is tricky with a mouse. I don't know if I'll be able to make a tutorial for that though, since I've never painted hair with a mouse before, so I'm not quite sure how I'd go about it xD

Don't worry if you have a few problems with it to begin with, I had the same with mine. But after a few days, once everything is set up and all the kinks have been ironed out, then you'll really love it.
