Description
Another piece for the ongoing 'Urban Abstraction' series.Quite =ikhon inspired I would say. Red! White! Black! Grime!
(Barrel distortion annoys me to no end. My poor, poor verticals!)
Enjoy

Yeah, barrel distorsion is to avoid when working on such things, it's necessary to use the tele as much as possible... Still the composition is really nice !

I've got heaps of your photos in my devwatch list. Some things can take time for me to be more receptive I think.
First of all, that title is just great. Me likey a lot.
That red is perfect. Such a lovely deep hue. And it's a lovely contrast against the stark strips of white.
The scratches and torn edges really do it for me. Great capture.

very bonny! it reminds me of a CD cover I have by Brian Eno - 'Nerve Net'. This triad of colors have incredible potential and this is GREAT!

It looks so much like a japanese or chinese painting or writing, it's grand. The red laque, ink black kind of ideograms, and the white clouds .. hehe
grat finding

love the Ikhon-esque colour scheme and overall feel. The composition is good too - even with the bit of barrel distortion. Very well seen, m'lady

CURSE YOU, BARREL DISTORTION! Half my photos are doomed because of that. ¬_¬
Anyway. I am being wowed by this old/new work from you. It's bloody damn great, you hear. I especially like this one. I love the red. I love the grime. It's all good.

Great shot. Not a red that i would associate with you, but works well. Isn't so dark that the black contrast. I think there'd be an interesting crop in the bottom-right hand side. You have such a good eye

I wouldn't associate it with me either.... I tend to usually work with grey/blue/white or the saffron yellow - but felt like something a bit different I guess. Snappy snappy.
Thanks for the compliment, my eyes are blushing

I usually don't dig such strong red - but it felt like it worked here to me. Gave it power and force.
Thanks for the comment Jasmin

Wow, there's a real and strange beauty to this piece, very captivating.
How high is the section of wall that you've encapsulated in the picture? Would a person's height fit on there?

etc-etc-etc In reply to Celeserenity [2006-02-07 05:28:30 +0000 UTC]
Scale wise, it's only a small cut out really. The actual captured part would be about 40cm high in 'real life'.
Glad you like it

Wow is that all? There's a line in there that looks like an ex-door that's been postered over so many times it's barely discernable!
I like almost all your gallery, plus there's the bonus that much of it is familiar (I'm a sydney-sider too).

Oooo I can see the line (I think!) Most of my photographs (of this sort) are small sections.... I like to 'abstract' (subtract) a very small part from the whole.
Glad you like my work. Thanks very much for all the comments and the watch

Haha. Well, you can think big in a way too. I imagine all of the photographs as one massive series, joined together to make a huge billboard - a massive , fragmented, chaotic and hence forth, true - portrayal of the city!
