Awesome. A better way of making clouds rather than the cloud effect. That thing doesn't work well. ¬¬ Too bad I can't read cursive so I have to relay on the images.

"Clouds Tutorial by [link]
Okay. People asked me to make a clouds tutorial AGES ago.. but I am a lazy artist. So it just takes some time before I actually make something : P
Keep in mind: This is a tutorial showing you how I draw my cloudsβ¦ So if it doesnβt work out for you.. well sorry then x3
Also, in ths tutorial I am expecting from the artist reading this that he/she knows a little bit about Photoshop.
((This technique can also be used in other programs))
If you donβt know anything about layers and such, check my Photoshop Tutorial.. Link will be given in the description!!!
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2 for this tutorial, but it can be used in any program I think
^^
Step 1.
Open a new file (or you can open a new layer in your picture for the background)
Step 2.
Base
Take the Gradient Tool and pick the two colors you would like to work with. I decided to work with a light-yellow and soft-pink background. This will be the base of your background!
Step 3.
Create a new layer above your base-background layer In this layer you will make your clouds.. And NO you will not need anymore layers (well you can if you prefer, but I donβt use more x3)
Step 4.
Scroll down your brush menu and look for the Soft Round Airbrush
Then make the βFlowβ 60% (usually I use between 40%-60%).
You can also choose yourself if you want to change the opacity as well.. I am using 100% for this tutorial.
Soft round airbrush
Step 5.
Take a color which is slightly darker than your darkest base color
Shading (step 6.)
Start with the first layer of shading (in the same layer)
Add some more shading! Until you get some depth in the pic ^^
I use the same purple as well to shade With a Flow of 35% and an Opacity of 51%
Step 7.
Highlights
(let there be light)
Pick the yellow from the top area, itβs the darkest there.. Then you will choose a lighter yellow for the highlights
Move that way to get a llighter color!
I used an imaginary sun.. so my highlight might not be correct. But you get the point.
Place the highlights along with the shape of the clouds =3
The End
Take your time on this tutorial⦠and you will get a MUCH better result.. I actually made this a bit too quickly x3 But this is just to show you how I do it in general : P
I hope this tutorial will help you artists ^___^ ENJOY!"
There ya go, down to the word. See ya!

Yeah these clouds are really plain and unimpressive... The same effect could be produced just basically moving your brush around a lot in a couple of different colours.. Maybe if they were a little more defined in some way? Take pictures of clouds and try to paint over them or something

I can draw other clouds aswell, but people requested me how I did these kind of clouds, so I give it to them..

this is a pretty badly done cloud tutorial, they arent brushed all that great either =/. Besides that there are like heaps of cloud tutorials on here and one was submitted like 3 days ago too, that happen to be well more done than this one.
It just looks sloppy and the shading looks wrong.
π: 0 β©: 1
etuix In reply to mest [2006-03-06 07:14:45 +0000 UTC]
This tutorial was made to give you a simple idea of how I do my clouds.. Yes I saw yesterday there were submitted more cloud toturials (weird actually x3). But I had planned this tutorial months ago, but this was the last day of my holiday that I actually had the time to make it.
Maybe slopppy, but I tried to keep it as simple as I could. Shading wrong? I took and imaginairy light-source so I just did some odd shading, but again to give you an idea of how I do my clouds.

What kind of prick is this guy? It's those kind of guys that demotivate other artists, I see it didn't effect you though. It's nice to see there are still loads of people that can keep their cool ^^. Anyway your tutorial is just fine! Your goal was to explain how you did your clouds right? If so, you did exactly what you wanted to. The clouds look a bit too blurry for my style though . I like how they're so colorful though.

etuix In reply to PaPerfeed [2006-03-06 18:04:37 +0000 UTC]
Yes, this tutorial was made to show people how I do my 'simple' clouds, because people asked me how I did them. I never said people SHOULD draw them like this, it's just to show them how I draw them ^^
Though, it seems people like this tutorial (is in shock with the 500+ favs O_O))

simple? its sloppy, and for a planned tutorial, geez.. it wasnt a well explained tutorial, just brushing completely random areas.
This maybe your way of doing your stuff but atleast do something a little more better, but whatever, do what you like.

I don't want to sound rude, but please learn to read X_X This tutorial was made to show people HOW I MAKE MY CLOUDS... This isnt the way clouds look, I KNOW... But it's to show people how I make them, because people DO like my clouds. I am sorry for that, can't help it either.

If you know how to do better, why don't you try to give some useful advices to this girl instead of being so presumptuous like if you were the God of wisdom? Damn, you must be some kind of Michelangelo. Criticizing (instead of what you've done) something or someone without being rude has never done harm to anyone.

hey, it's just a tutorial.
She only uploaded it to help others, to help people who are either starting digital art, or are having trouble making clouds. Heck, my tutorial wasn't this detailed. xD Tutorials are just here to help. If you think you could do better, you should make a tutorial yourself. With all the comments and ideas you have brewing in your mind, it sounds like you could be quite a hit.

mest In reply to kaykaykit [2006-03-07 00:04:28 +0000 UTC]
It might just be a tutorial, but it's badly constructed tutorial, especially since she said that shes been planning this for months now or whatever she said. But hey if people want to learn how to do clouds like that, then by all means they can.
I'd do a tutorial, but i never have time. I have time to do work, but when it comes to making a "DECENET" tutorial, it takes time, and I cant be stuffed doing that.
Oh besides that... its just like the way you did your tutorial, with the same techniques. The only difference is that hers was blurry, different colours, and highlights around the clouds.
