This is a particularly impressive compositional capture. Nice work.

Thanks! It's nearly four years old, now, and I'm not nearly as pleased with it as I once was, but that it's still viewed is flattering.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I can never think much of the majority of my older pieces. All the same, you're welcome.

Reminded me of LOTR....the land of Mordor...

Mordor intimidates me almost as much as did the nude beach at which this was shot. Thanks!

It's so far a $2500 hobby and a $220 job.
Thanks!

I honestly don't know or remember the name of that particular beach. It's located near La Jolla (a small city outside of San Diego).
Thanks!

That's Blacks Beach then!! Yea, located just north of La Jolla!! There are sometimes hanggliders off the cliff above, & to get here, you pass a pier! I thought I recognized it from the photo!!

Wow, excelent work.
The whole photo seems an almost eerie feeling. The seaweed laying throughout the beach sand, and the fog bank rolling up and over the mountains just seems to amazing. The person with their dog running, reallys add something more to the photo as well.

Thanks.
It's been over a year since that shot was taken and, while I see much in it that I'd now change, I'm nevertheless happy with the feedback it continues to receive.

Very ethereal and mystical... though I almost feel the people take away from this piece...
I love the colors and textures.
Would like to know more about the technical process here...
Was this digital? Film? Post-processed?
How did you achieve this affect? Any particular approach to framing the scene or setting the exposure or f-stop?
Would love to learn from this beautiful work,

Digital with a bit of post-processing in the sky, which -- consequently -- was a bit washed-out in the original shot (I masked it and multiplied certain sections of it). An unsharp mask was used, too, but I can't recall the extent to which it was applied.
It was taken, unfortunately, with a point-and-shoot digital camera -- one that offers no manual control; I've no information regarding its settings.
As for framing -- a wide angle helped. I wasn't able to plan the shot (the woman, there, was sprinting rather quickly), so I shot it wide and later slightly cropped it so it wasn't too expansive. I tried to leave as much of the ground in as I could such that perspective would be a little more evident than it otherwise would've been.
Thanks for your comment and for the +favorite.

This one reminds me of what I would find in a photography book. Meaning I cannot name anything wrong with it. However, I do not always like not being able to find something I don't like in a photo, so maybe what I am trying to say is its tooperfect for my tastes, but as my ceramics teacher calls me (reguarding my work) "master of deconstructiong."

really a very nice image. i like how the sky kinda echos that ground, how the horizen line of the cliffs flows into the line of the water coming ashore. and the person and their dog keep it interesting. :bravo:
