Ghosts of the Future, issue 8: Priorities.Woo! Let's get this wagon train a-rollin'. Welcome to issue 8 of GOTF, I hope it turns out well. Unfortunately, this cover dosen't quite live up to my expectations. Though I like some elements (Silver's quills are faaabulous!), the whole image just dosen't mesh well. Mostly because I was an idiot and painted Sonic in such a way that I can't add my usual transparency effects that I do on him or scoot him around. That'll teach me for trying to innovate. On another note, any Spider-man fans might recognize the design of this cover from the iconic issue #50 of "Amazing Spider-Man"-- "Spider-Man No More". It's a fantastic cover, not to mention the story it introduces. Many plot elements of this upcoming GOTF arc are inspired by that comic. And by "inspired", I mean "blatantly ripped off". Hooray!

This comic is good, I'm just slightly dissapointed when it'S trouble after trouble in such comics or fanfictions and no silly ark where they just have some fun.

Issue 16 is a goof-off story, if you need a little break! I'm working on getting a more balanced win/loss ration into more recent stories.

I'll admit, I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, and I'm excited to know that he's in Captain America: Civil War, and this cover...man! Right out of my childhood nostalgia that started over a decade ago! Listen to "Ordinary" by Train (find it in the Spider-Man 2Β soundtrack), it actually fits in with Silver really well!

This cover design was chosen as a homage to the original Spider-Man cover by John Romita, as the story of GOTF (and this issue especially) is heavily influenced by the core themes of Spider-Man. Created over 40 years ago, the original "Spider-Man no more" cover is one of the most well-known pices of comic art ever made, and has been re-created in homage and parody many times. Anybody who does this does not claim that it was their idea, and Marvel expects something so iconic to be repeated by other people. It doesn't detract from the value of the original, in fact it increases it by educating unfamiliar readers with the original (if they choose to research it).
Nobody is going to mistake my image for the original Spider-Man cover. Like you, they'll recognize the source material and the themes it implies. Now if I were to trace the original and slap some Silver quills on Peter Parker, then we'd have a problem.

This can also be seen as a parody of Archie Sonic the comic issue 134 cover,the issue better know as the slap.Which is a parody of the spider man cover at the same time so it reality you are parodying 2 things at once.

The cover is great! it already tells you a major plot point in this issue and gets you all riled up for it.
I mean can we blame Silver? His entire life has been thrown upside down since Shadow and Sonic came into his life.
