Description
This is a design sheet for the Vinyl Scratch as they appear in my Equestria Girls fan-fiction series I am working on. It's still a work in progress and is subject to changes and revision, and I will be releasing bits and pieces of information with each entry before I move onto the real thing. You can read more about what I have so far by following the links listed at the bottom of the image description, and it's recommended to read them in order.

They are members of a secret global organization known as the Technological Consortium, which has been safeguarding Humanity from various magical, supernatural and technological threats for centuries.

I had originally considered making Vinyl Scratch an actual mute, but then I remembered that she was seen in the background talking to Lemon Zest at the end of the Friendship Games.

THE FAN-SERIES
I am in the process of writing a road-map and world building for a fan-fiction series of Equestria Girls. Basically, I am writing it like a television series which acts as a sequel to where the original left off, made-up of 2 series', comprised of 5 seasons each, and each season consisting of at least 26 episodes, with a movie serving as the finale. It will be written in the style and tone of the actual show. It's basically what I would do if I was the writer for the actual Equestria Girls series. I do not actually plan on writing full episodes, as that would take too much time and effort, but I may produce a few scripts for some episodes. Instead I write my fan-series in an episodic, synopsis style which details events.

BACKSTORY
Vinyl Scratch is the daughter of two Engineers who work for the Technological Consortium, and as such they wanted to bring her into the organization if they could. She initially began her first year of high-school at Crystal Prep Academy, like her parents did, but she didn't fit in and they instead had her transferred to Canterlot High where her free-spirit attitude was more at home.

PERSONALITY
Vinyl Scratch is very friendly, laid-back and helpful person. You're well aware she loves music, but to her, music is more than just a combination of sounds, for her, music helps her focus and she often works to a beat. Vinyl Scratch has no shortage of friends, particularly within her organization and within Canterlot High, and is well liked by most people. One notable friend is Octavia, a fellow music enthusiast.

She has many talents, and is also a graphics designer, artist, animator(of the 2D and 3D variety) and makes art and animations for her fans. One last thing of note is that she loves building and maintaining machinery, including computers, but especially her musical equipment and instruments, and a lot of the things she owns are custom made by her. Vinyl Scratch strongly believes that ones personality and passions should be visibly reflected in ones possessions and sense of style.

She is also a very popular E-Celebrity, known as DJ Pon-3, with a large number of followers, who enjoy her music and mixes. She is well liked by her fellow Consortium members, who often enjoy her style of music. There is a saying amongst Consortium members that music like hers, synth and techno, is "the sound of technology".

CASUAL ATTIRE
An alternate design for Vinyl Scratch. Not much to say beyond the fact she likes white and extremely bright and flash colours with details that make one think of music in some way.

BASE UNIFORM
The standard uniform of Consortium members when stationed within one of their bases.

OPERATIONS
Operatives typically wear something like this when on a mission that does not involve being in disguise or hiding in plain sight. The insignia on the left arm signifies the operatives speciality and role, and in Vinyl Scratches case, she is an Engineer.

CLASS: ENGINEER
The Engineers are adept with machinery, both in understanding, construction and in their use, and are also often trained to pilot many of the special vehicles that the Technological Consortium makes use of. Specialized Pilots are trained for the most advanced vehicles, however, but most Engineers are trained and authorized to pilot vehicles their team-mates may not be trained or authorized to make use of.

VIRTUE: INSPIRATION
In Season 4, 10 members of the Consortium gain "Virtues", which are the Consortium's versions of the Elements of Harmony, which they will use to help the Rainbooms defeat a powerful Enemy at the end of Season 4. Vinyl's Virtue is Inspiration, granting her magical power derived from her ability to draw ideas from the world around her and to channel it into something creative and beautiful.

IN THE FAN-SERIES
In my fan-series, Vinyl Scratch is one of three Consortium agents operating at Canterlot High, along with Sweetie Drops and Sour Sweet as her alter ego "Sweeten Sour". Vinyl Scratch is authorized to aid the Rainbooms and the students and faculty at Canterlot High against potentially dangerous or hostile threats unless ordered not to act. Sometimes she is given specific tasks to aid the Rainbooms by her superiors, such as when she was ordered to help them fight the Sirens, freeing them from Trixie's trap and being given a special transforming sound-stage to allow the Rainbooms to battle the Dazzlings. Like Human Sunset Shimmer, she has been tasked with the construction of a minor listening post for her own use, which is hidden somewhere in Canterlot High...

When operating as part of her team, she wears a mask to hide her identity from the Rainbooms through seasons 1-5, and she won't reveal herself as a member of the Consortium to them or the viewers until the very end of Season 5, after the defeat of the final enemy of that season – The Lord of Darkness, when she reveals she is the one who has been helping the Rainbooms from behind the scenes all along. I have considered the idea of having her finally speak when the reveal happens, when one of the Rainbooms who they have to thank for gathering all of their Allies to come help them, which is when an unfamiliar voice speaks up, causing the assembled crowd to look in the direction of the voice, revealing the now unmasked Vinyl Scratch as the source.

THE TECHNOLOGICAL CONSORTIUM
The primary recurring antagonists of Series 1, turned Allies in series 2, with a strong presence in every season. The Technological Consortium, or just "The Consortium" for short, is a secret global organization which runs most of what goes on in the world from behind the scenes. They investigate, hunt, and police the mystical and supernatural elements of the world, but they also deal with other threats like Rogue Scientists, AI's, Super Villains, Aliens, dangerous technology and other dangerous elements and natural or unnatural, disasters. Think of the Consortium as a combination of The Men in Black, the SCP Foundation and the Technocratic Union from Mage: The Ascension. Members are often referred to as "Techs" by outsiders, such as the Rainbooms.

The Technological Consortium is lead by it's supreme and enigmatic leader, from a position known as "The Supreme Scientist", who is said to always be the most intelligent and wise Person of their time.

In my series, the Consortium will frequently be at odds with the Rainbooms and Equestria, who they see as rogue elements and potential threats. The Consortium has been watching the Rainbooms for quite some time, and have been assisting them from behind the scenes in hopes that the Equestrian problem will resolve itself, while taking steps to perform damage control or commit resources to backup plans should the Rainbooms fail. For example, they were prepared to step in during the initial Sunset Shimmer and Midnight Sparkle incidents before those things resolved themselves. Sometimes their assistance was absolutely necessary, such as during the Sirens incident, where they sent one of their young operatives, Vinyl Scratch, to free the Rainbooms and provide them with aid against The Dazzlings. Did you think Vinyl Scratch just so happened to show up with a giant transforming sound-stage equipped car...?
