Description Another shot of the moon's craters, but this time, focusing on the lower half of the waxing crescent moon. This was taken at the Eccles Observatory just north of Caroline.

Again, this was done by holding my Sony Ericsson W800i cell phone camera up to a Meade 8-inch telescope. The image was rotated so that it would be facing the right direction and be as we see it. Telescopes flip images around 180 degrees.

This came out really sweet - especially for the way you shot it.

Oh wow! I know a guy here in my city whom I met on the trip that I took this photo, and it turned out that he was my cousin's bf's dad!! What a small world huh?

Wow, thanks for the link, I love this guy's long exposure shots.

Where did you hear that from? Mars will never be close enough to earth for that to happen, unless it's about to crash into us, which its orbit shouldn't allow, and it's actually passed its closest point to us already (I believe it was around November or December last year).

I would like to see your pictures of the moon though.

I've been a subscriber to Astronomy Magazine for over twelve years.

Earlier this summer, Mars did look really spectacullary through a telescope, as it made it's way right in front of the Beehive star cluster.

Crazy that you took that with your phone.

Keep in mind that my phone was being held up to a telescope. But it is still pretty cool to say that I took that with my phone's camera.
