Description Update: Now that I have finished all of the flele coding tutorials, I will now be making only revisions and finishing up my own. I doubt I will have the time to re-code your entire flele anymore unless I'm really interested.

If you see any mistakes in my tutorial, then please notify me at once so that I may fix it.

Other flele resources:

Flele Buttons Tutorial: [link]
Flele shell base: [link] [warning, it's kind of BS]
Surfaces.txt tutorial pt.1: [link]
Surfaces.txt tutorial pt.2: [link]

I made this assuming rannsama's tutorial was not read. Found here: [link]
------------------------
NOV. 22, 2010
REVISION: No you can't add extra buttons. They've only coded for 2 stops in the 01.dic file (the one that actually codes for the entire program called a FLELE) It's a real hassle to code in more. So you can only have 2 or less stop buttons.

------------------------
What is a flele?
-A flele is a little music player that "sings" along with the song you play

Where can I get one?
-[link]
Get the miku pack

How do I get different characters to sing?
You download a shell for the flele. This tut teaches you how to make your own shell (Kinda).

Help! Why doesn't it work on my mac?
-Currently, the flele can only work on a pc or linux.
-------------------------
Misc. Info
Flele uses Unicode (Shift_JIS)
The shell is coded in ANSI
-it plays WMV and mp3
-it cannot read files with odd characters
--------------------------
FAQ
What if I want more than one button for a feature?
-I'm pretty sure you can add a number to the end of it and have it work.

What if I don't want the second stop button or the stroke feature?
-Just delete those lines of code or make their coordinates 0,0,0,0

Do you know any other way to get the coordinates?
-I only know PS, if you have some other way then please tell me so I can include it.
------------------------------------
If you have a question then I'll try to answer it as best I can.

PS I'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR FLELE IF YOU DO MAKE IT

Oh, it might be out of bounds on the screen. So like the flele might appear on the corner of someone's computer screen when they are coding it but then when it's on a another computer, the resolution and sizes are different so the flele is there, it's just not on the screen. You know what I'm saying?

I think i get it, its like "out" of the borders? That have sence, i'll see if its that, thank you~ >u<

Extrics In reply to angiii260 [2013-02-22 15:54:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm guessing it's off screen based on what you've described. Try going to utilities -> reset shell position

So when we're finding the coordinates by the F8 method, do we use the X value or the Y value?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to ulquiorra3 [2012-01-01 10:17:48 +0000 UTC]

You would need both because the coordinates specify the current location of the cursor. Only having one of the coordinates would get you a column or a row not a location.

ulquiorra3 In reply to Extrics [2012-01-01 20:00:23 +0000 UTC]

Hmm....ok.
Buttons are a pain.
When I open my shell in photoshop it's an inch ruler. So my coordinates were like, 1.993 and 5.314. Numbers like that.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm so lost. =.=;;

Extrics In reply to ulquiorra3 [2012-01-01 20:28:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm not really sure which version of photoshop you have but for mine, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Units & Rulers and change things to measure by pixels rather than by inches.

Honestly, I haven't ever used gimp and I don't know how to operate it.

But here's something I found on the interwebs. I dunno if it'll help. [link]

thank you, this is so helpful~!
can you tell me what format to save the pngs in? I haven't been able to find out anywhere

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Erulisse2 [2010-12-24 21:54:01 +0000 UTC]

That's one of the easy parts (that's surprisingly annoying). You change the mode from RGB (or CMYK or black and white dunno whay you would use these though) to indexed mode.

i was wondering if you could help me
i use SAI and i used another shell as a refrence and on the otheer shell there was a green back round so i used that on my model but even though it's the same color and the same code the green is obvious on my model =-=

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aikaze-soungu [2010-11-27 18:56:56 +0000 UTC]

You have a very common problem actually. If the line is even just a bit semi-transparent, then the green will show through.

I'll show you an example
This is what you have: [link]
See the outlined pixel? These pixels are the ones that appear. The green only turns transparent if it's a pure green. Something in between like that will not turn transparent.
This is what you want to aim for [link]
There's nothing in-between the two colors.

You can do this by using the pencil tool or overlaying your outline so much that it all turns black.

OR. You can do it the lazy way like I do and not use any back ground and instead just leave it transparent when I turn it into indexed mode.

Aikaze-soungu In reply to Extrics [2010-11-27 22:38:39 +0000 UTC]

fixed it thank you so much

No problem. Good luck with your flele.

Extrics In reply to Aikaze-soungu [2010-11-28 05:32:20 +0000 UTC]

XD Good luck. Are you using the de-poche coding? It's easier to use the coding from miku_s. All you need to do is add a bind option to all of it. It runs "faster."

Dear god. I have such a huge amount of respect for you at this point. ._ .;; Do you happen to have any more slots for coding these things? I just CAN'T seem to get it... Her eyes won't go to where I need them. OTL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-22 22:41:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks XD The only reason I got this far was from several hours of continued experimenting and some basic coding knowledge (but not much that could help D.

Sure, just send your flele to firethrought@gmail.com

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-22 23:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Haha. XD I've been at it for around 2 days and not having much luck. XD Its the eyes and mouth positioning for now. Dx They hate me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-22 23:28:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's what my first flele did to me too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 00:25:47 +0000 UTC]

xD How did you fix it? I can't seem to get them all aligned right... Could be because I'm not really sure what is what in there. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-23 02:15:23 +0000 UTC]

Well. You actually are using the hard coding. -_-' You should try based off the easy one for beginners. Second, do you have the .psd file? The reason you can't get your images aligned is because the images aren't directly aligned. You can't just directly overlay it. Your eye frames change heights, as do your mouths.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 02:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Hard coding? ow o I do have my PSD. I'm not sure how to set it all right, if you want, I can try sending everything (PSD as well) to you? I'm not sure how to fix it. ;0 ;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-23 02:55:21 +0000 UTC]

The de-poche series is actually a pretty special work.

Just send the .psd. It get annoying if the coordinates change for every frame.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 03:04:26 +0000 UTC]

; Ok. I wasn't aware there were different code versions. Haha. ;

I THINK the PSD went through... I hope. P:

Thank you for helping me with this. ;0 ; Its 100% a first. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-23 03:29:28 +0000 UTC]

I don't think most people do. Out of all the people I've talked to, only one of them knew about it and started to work with the easier version.

XD I can tell. I'll admit that it's one of the better first tries that I've seen.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 03:40:44 +0000 UTC]

xD Haha. I'm in with the masses! XD

Aww. :3 Thanks. <3 I'm trying to follow tutorials, but... I'm more a one-on-one learner. :c

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-23 04:41:20 +0000 UTC]

Then I'll try and annotate a portion of it for you.

BTW, did you already set the control buttons for your flele?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 04:44:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah, no. Lol. I kept trying to get the eyes and mouth aligned. XD Was thinking about doing the hairpiece being the menu/playlist area, mouth for play... Eh... I'm not sure what all of the controls are just yet. XD I got a Flele 3 days ago. XD Still learning. /shot

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-23 05:08:37 +0000 UTC]

DX Well, I assumed you did since most of the buttons seemed to fall on the right places.

I got a flele half a year ago. I'm working on translating the menu now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-23 15:15:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh gosh. I'd love a translated menu. x3!! lol I've no clue what they say to me 99% of the time.

XD I think the aligning was dumb luck on my part. lmao :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-24 03:28:56 +0000 UTC]

I can read characters so I know what it's saying half the time. DX I just can't translate it without encountering some problems.

Well, dumb luck or not, I think you probably know enough to change it to the coordinates you want. X)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeriaa In reply to Extrics [2010-11-24 03:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Luuucky! XD lmao I'll probably need to learn if I want to do these things more. XD

x3 Yeah. I can probably figure out how to change that. :3 For now, just gonna leave it as it is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to Aeriaa [2010-11-24 04:00:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I suppose I am lucky that Japanese is just a spin-off of chinese. You actually don't have to learn much japanese if you want to program flele shells. I'm just messing with the main program.

You can guess the locations based off the kaito flele XD

blinding-eclips [2010-11-19 17:52:20 +0000 UTC]

this is verry helpfull, thanks! ^^
I ws able to code my FLele correct ^U^
but I'm having trouble with the pic itself D:
the base I worked on had a green BG for all pics, and since my pic has lots of transparant parts, its green too and all the other things have green borders too :C

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

darkojamajo In reply to blinding-eclips [2010-11-25 17:37:12 +0000 UTC]

to fix the green borders, use the pencil tool and go around the edges of each picture in the same green.
the green borders are there because the anti alias were the green touches the flele shell. that color is slightly different then the other green, so it dosent get erased.

i had the same problem....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blinding-eclips In reply to darkojamajo [2010-11-25 18:02:19 +0000 UTC]

oh okay C:

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Extrics In reply to blinding-eclips [2010-11-19 22:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Like I said before, just save it with a transparent bg. There's no green pixels left afterwards.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blinding-eclips In reply to Extrics [2010-11-20 00:02:13 +0000 UTC]

well I tried that, and it has a black/blue BG now e_e'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to blinding-eclips [2010-11-20 00:28:01 +0000 UTC]

You haven't been turning it into indexed mode, have you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blinding-eclips In reply to Extrics [2010-11-20 00:40:38 +0000 UTC]

nope :c
its RGB :c

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Extrics In reply to blinding-eclips [2010-11-20 00:45:22 +0000 UTC]

Change it to indexed mode. It'll force any transparent pixels to become solid but you don't have to have a background anymore.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blinding-eclips In reply to Extrics [2010-11-20 01:05:18 +0000 UTC]

I'll try that out :3
thanks ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blinding-eclips In reply to Extrics [2010-11-20 15:00:14 +0000 UTC]

yes it did! C:
thanks for the help! <3
