First of three in the "Broken Promises" series that I shot.

While visiting Lake Como, Italy, I was out on a pier with some friends and was blown away by how many locks couples had secured onto the railing and benches. And I've seen this before, like couples placing locks at historic places to prove their commitment, but I had never seen so many locks in my life. There were literally thousands of them. Of all different shapes and sizes, some brand new while others were covered in rust. It felt like love was wasting away on that pier.
