Description
I don't know why I didn't post this years ago, but this is actually from Summer 2010 I believe. I took a pre-college class during the summer at Suffolk University and this was one of the prints I made. I know it's kind of all over the place and there's a zillion layers, but I love it.This was a 4 color lithograph. The black was the initial layer, then the maroon flowers, and then the script in both red and white.
My current project still has a couple hours left, I've posted the most recent WIP as a scrap: [link]

I like this. It is very charming and yes, the overlays may be staggered, but that is what breaks up the monotony of just putting everything in order, so it is all in one place...
The way you did it, you get to see a bit of the layers, that are over the black, whereas, if you hadn't staggered them, they would only be really noticed on the face.
Before I saw your comment about the woman being done by someone else. I had thought she were your grandmother, because the picture looks like it was created out of love.
Great job,

thank you for this lovely comment! I haven't done a lithograph in forever, and I would be oh so happy to get to play around with printmaking again and experiment more with layer techniques!

You're very welcome.
I am wanting to think I used to have an app for doing that, on an old cellphone, but I can't find anything on Microsoft, for the PC, that would allow me to.

The photograph is by Walter Schels, who did an extensive series of elderly people right before and right after they died. But I used it to make a print with lots of other overlaying images.

Wow, the details look great, and the shading is really lifelike. Even 3 years ago, you had a great understanding of facial proportions (which is more than I can say for myself) and the different layers create an interesting and unique piece! Well done!

Thank you so much! This is such a different style that I normally try out (and honestly I haven't done any printing since I finished this one), but it's something that I'd definitely be interested in doing again! The layers were definitely the most fun part of this : )
