Description
Micron pens and only 1 to 2 hoursComments always appreciated
Sorry that this one is so completely random. I found out that one of my co-worker's birthday is on Sunday and decided to do a mini stippling portrait. I gave myself the duration of Ace Ventura's Pet Detective to finish this and I'm so happy with how it came out. It was such a freaking challenge because its only 2.5 by 3.5 inches in size, tiny I know!, and so doing the face and slight details because increasingly harder to do. And I've never actually done a full body portrait, I'm so used to faces and hands that doing a whole mini Steve was a little tough. Plus, he was wearing a plaid shirt which just was mind numbing to do.
Anyways, it feels good to update here, even though this was just a random side project. I might do a couple more of these in-between project just so that I stay active here, so look forward to that!
And don't worry, Ronnie Radke and Gotye are still in the works! I just need to do some of Gotye's crazy hair and he should actually be done really soon. Mr. Radke is another story, but he'll get there soon too.
Also it's official, I'm going to Vans Warped tour! SO I really wanna get Ronnie Radke's portrait done and I may even start up another project.... I'll update later!
Edit 1/13/12: I've changed the contrast to make the background whiter. I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the background when I posted it, but am much happier now. Enjoy!

I love the fact that you gave yourself the time limit (and the fact that you told us in was the duration of Ace Venture: Pet Detective)
I can't believe this piece is so small!!

hi my dear, so I came to look at your gallery
this work is especially interesting because of the technique.
It contains a feeling of transience because there're no lines, just those soft dots.

Very nicely done I love how well you have shown the details and the way that the pencil almost gives the dots a 3d effect.

I've never tried stippling, but beautiful work like this sure makes me want to try. I love how much detail you were able to convey with this technique in such a tiny space. Nice job!

Thank you so much! Stippling can be a lot of fun, if you get in the groove of it. It can be incredibly frustrating, but the results and usually really really rewarding.

This is amazing! Your shading technique is unique and wonderful, and the proportions are fantastic! My favorite part is that his face isn't super detailed, yet you can easily see his features. Very nice work!

Wow wow wow thank you so much for this lovely comment! I was actually quite worried about his face because it was SO tiny and even using a 005 pen didn't seem to give me the level of detail I was used to. But I'm really glad you liked it!

Thanks so much! This one took a lot more planning than usual too because most of the time I work on a small section at a time, not all in one go. And because of that I had to make sure I didn't smudge the wet ink while I was doing it, which was such a pain. Thanks so much

Yeah I remember that I smudged my first one to the point where I just had to trash it and start again, but they get SO much easier with practice : )
