I must be an idiot because I am having trouble on number 2. Make a circle then fill it with a red orange at 0% ? Duplicating the layer then filling at 100% doesn't even get me anything. Am I reading this wrong or something?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FacundoDiaz In reply to 4-CtY [2010-07-13 00:00:36 +0000 UTC]

The tutorial says: Make a circle, with a redish orange, then make FILL 0% ( in the layers window ) and then make sure you give the properties I show to you on the screenshot.

OMFG, this is so awesome, I wanted to try it, but the result is far to be as much perfect as your.
I might admit, I am not a pro for CS4, so, there's some steps I didn't understand too well XD

FacundoDiaz In reply to Zuzulf [2010-05-11 17:58:36 +0000 UTC]

Give yourself some time, Im sure you will figure it out soon

Zuzulf In reply to FacundoDiaz [2010-05-13 16:46:46 +0000 UTC]

I think my problem is the brushes.
I've something like you have 'til the steps 5, then... just no XD

I have some brushes (and I think, good brushes ) but I can't use too well for this effect.

Zuzulf In reply to FacundoDiaz [2010-05-14 11:51:10 +0000 UTC]

On the left you have until the step 5 (non included)
And on the right, the step 5 included with the white plain to increase the luminosity.

(and yes, blue, for change XD)

here the link : [link]

Thanks a lot, you create real masterpieces !

FacundoDiaz In reply to Zuzulf [2010-05-14 18:11:21 +0000 UTC]

you are doing quite well
first of all you need to make a bigger outerglow. create a tird circle (with fill 0% ) and look for a nice outerglow on your sun. it should look not like a light sphere, but like a sun!
About the brushes, you need to create the ilusion of a sun, that means we dont have to see the fractals, because that way, the sun wont look like it. Its all about "lieing to the eye". make them smaller, make them closer to the sun, and so on.....

Zuzulf In reply to FacundoDiaz [2010-05-14 19:40:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks ^w^
Oh, yes, I didn't understand you with "fill 0%, or 100 %" XD
I made as I could for it...

But your advices are really helpfull !
I'll try it again.

Excellent tutorial there! but I think I can make my star look closer to Step 4 if i make the blending mode into Screen rather then Overlay.

Still, a most helpful tutorial!

Lol about what I said last time, I wish I didn't say it was easier than it looks because it took me 6 hours (I almost never spend that much time on my art) but it's mainly because PS was really slow.
Anyways, the toughest part was too have good, realistic cloud textures that I didn't have...
So I made it a bit brighter using my textures and it came out almost as good as yours!
But I need to work on the background a bit now. lol
Sure, I will!
