Description
After numerous requests, I have decided to make a tutorial on how I paint my Nebulae. I did my best to include every part of my process. I'm sure the thing is riddled with spelling and grammar errors. Just ignore those, there's a reason I'm an artist and not a writer.I hope you all can learn something from this. It took quite sometime to get it done. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything, don't hestiate to ask me.
I've included my custom cloud smudge brush that I use in all my paintings

Probably one of the best, if not the best, tutorial I've come across on creations of Nebula with the round brush approach. I'm so sick of seeing nebula brushes and other tutorials using fractals or some other resource. Good job going out of the box. I've been watching your work for some time now and am continually impressed by your consistent knack for good, organic-looking, nebula painting. I'm glad you finally shared your technique. I was very curious.
Maybe the only thing I would add: I've noticed most of your nebula creations take up the entire canvas. I may suggest working with smaller nebula, further away from the focal point, and adding additional space features into your art.e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Hello and thank you for the excellent tutorial! This has been very helpful indeed!
About the cloud brush: couldn't find any rules about the usage of the brush so I decided to ask. What's your view on the artworks made with this brush, can they be shared in DA and can the artworks themselves be sold? For example if I want to make a nebula background for my art and then someday maybe want to sell the artwork in question? I wanted to clarify this. And also if I share in DA a nebula I made with this wonderful brush of yours, how do feel about that? I have unrestricted stock.

This is exactly what I was needing for my next project! I've always loved space themes, but I just couldn't wrap my head around how to create them with my own style and down to what I needed.
Thank you!

Quick question, how do you blend your colors? Mine just smudge or blur and it looks terrible.
π: 0 β©: 1
TylerCreatesWorlds In reply to sonderstory [2015-06-14 20:22:17 +0000 UTC]
There should be a .Zip download to the right of the image. Download the file, in there is a custom cloud smudge brush you can load into Photoshop. This will blend the colors a lot better.

Hey justin,
If your checking out my tutorial from a computer there should be an option to download a zip file located to the right or below the image. The file will have the smudge brush and a full size image of the tutorial for easier reading. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

However,Β I've been trying this method for like a few weeks now and I just can't get passed the first step haha xD Do you have any other tips on how to make the clouds look like that?
