Description
Dedicated to my Grandma Brost, who watched this being coloured.I've wanted to colour this one for ages but I procrastinated because it was intended as a forest background painting practice piece. Well, this past week I've had nothing BUT time so I thought I should buck up and get at least one nice painting done even though I REEEALLY did not feel like it. Again, context-> falcolf.deviantart.com/journal⦠This turned out being better than I thought, though very different from what I imagined (which I might have succeeded in portraying had I had access to references but there was no internet where I was.) I spent a good few hours individually drawing all of those leaves and painting the background. Although it's minimalist, I believe it gets the point across - that Eqaetz is galloping through a deep green forest - and I believe that it well portrays the mood. I will probably be using something like this style of forest colouring again because of its eye-pleasing quality.
This was obviously done using a colour palette of green and red.Β
Ummm I might draw that shadow eventually. Might.
EDIT: Drop shadow added.
PROUDLY COLOURED IN LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA. Drawn and inked last year in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

His rider is now getting plenty of healthy exercise walking back home, right?
I really like the shading on Eqaetz... but he needs his drop-shadow on the ground, unless he's ethereal and doesn't cast a shadow? You've got plenty of shadows on the shrubbery and horse's body, which is why I noticed it missing.
Love all the details in the vegetation, definitely worth the effort.

Aww unfortunely not - Eqaetz is about to be cruelly caught and brought back to the fat jerk unfortunately. Poor Eqaetz!
I know, I know I should add it, I'd do it right now but I can't reach my tablet because of the little cat that's sitting on my lap. Don't want to disturb her. XD
