/anotherGoogle for it, it's public. Will probably write a proper review tomorrow.
But all I can say so far: As a power user, I'm VERY disappointed...

The sidebar is a docked metro app.

I thought MS officially dropped the transparent blue portion of aero, or is that in an upcoming version?

They'll do that in RTM I suppose

I'm installing it at the moment in a VM, hope the apps won't crash as often as in the Consumer Preview

I still have yet to try this, I'm holding off until RTM. Btw I though Aero died? This one looks quite nice.

They'll disable the transparency in RTM I suppose. Aero, as a technology, will live on.

They probably are holding us in suspense until the final release. Hopefully though DMW remains alive so we can unlock it.

The death of Aero isn't implemented in the Release Preview.

I'm excited for what they have in store for us. As long as its not flat and gray or childish

The new style? It's metro-ish flat and white. Pretty unimpressing.

Nah. Actually, the still implemented Aero looks nice, I'd love to see that optional in the final version.

buggy715, they're not going to, I don't get why you thought they would. The start screen functions very similary to the start menu if you ignore the new Metro apps...
Personally, I'm much happier with this build than the Consumer Preview. Tons of tiny improvements that make it a lot better.

I'll have to disagree about the start screen. It feels so flimsy and awkward, and it covers the whole screen..

Yea, but a lot of the keystrokes and stuff are exactly the same. How would you open up Notepad in Windows 7? You'd hit the windows key, and type "notepad." Same exact method in Windows 8, just with a different presentation. There are some things that don't work the same way, but as a fan of the Metro interface (as I know you are, with Omnimo), I don't mind at all. In fact, as more Windows 8 apps come out, I'm trying my best to move away from the desktop. Everyone has their own opinions, but if Microsoft sticks with Metro, we're all eventually going to have to switch (I don't foresee the desktop being included after, say, Windows 10.)

No.. I'd open notepad by pressing the start button and just clicking the notepad shortcut. I don't see myself pinning a notepad shortcut on the start screen though. What I hate is that the start screen covers everything. I don't need a fullscreen start menu. I want to see my desktop without having to switch to that unfinished tablet UI experiment. I used to like Metro, but after seeing what they've done to it, I can't feel the same way. While I'm all for simplying the use of computers for people, I don't really like that they're forcing this simplicity upon others. I have a tablet for my content consumption, I need my Windows PC to have a comfortable work environment. It's shit like this that will give Linux a bigger market share.

Agreed. I don't like that you can't simultaneously use the taskbar, why the widgets don't automatically arrange themselves according to their function/purpose, and why the wheel scroll doesn't scroll left and right. The Xbox 360's dashboard also seems to be more organized and easier to navigate than this.
