Like animations? Like kaleidoscopes? Why not combine them?!
With this script/plugin combo you can do just that. The preview image was created with a single image filled with a standard GIMP pattern.I created the script to work with an old GIMP kaleidoscope plugin (included in the download), which allows you to create an animated kaleidoscope from a single image or using an existing animated image. The image you use must be RGB / grayscale. So, if you intend to use an animated gif, just go to Image > Mode and select RGB or grayscale and then use the script. The script can be found under Filters > Animation > Animated Kaleidoscope... If you want to run the kaleidoscope plugin without creating an animation, you can find it under Filters > Distorts > Kaleidoscope.
I think the options in the script are self-explanatory, but the ReadMe file in the download provides some details.
Installation instructions are included in the ReadMe file. PLEASE read that before sending me any questions.
There are no restrictions on using, just have have fun. Adding this to your favorites is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, this only works with GIMP and can't be translated to photoshop. However, that being said, GIMP is free and if you would like to use this or any other of my scripts, it's certainly worth the download. Cheers!Β Art

I got one problem ... I think this is kinda dumb thing .. but I hope you will answer it back whole-heartedly ..
I cant find any folder GIMP-2.0 in my program files .. I just want to know what can I do to create it ???????
Do I need to create folder only ??? or I must undergo a process that I dont know ???

I would love to use this script, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I get the message
"Plug-In 'Kaleidoscope Animation' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups."
Any advice? I'm using gimp 2.6.12 on Ubuntu.

I just downloaded gimp 2.8 which is pretty cool so far. Would this work on the newer version> and if so, where could I put it in? The files look different, and harder to find. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks so much.

thanks for the script, kaleidoscope plugin is my favorite this script also works on linux if you have kaleidoscope binary plugin just copy .scm script to scripts dir.
There are many kaleidoscope wallpapers in my gallery if anyone's interested.

i also had the kaleidoschope script, but it was like 1 kb larger... it still seems to work fine though

Cool! Glad to see you were able to use it. One suggestion that I didn't put it the readme file. See that little line running from the center of the image to the right edge? That's create by a fluke of the kaleidoscope filter. Next time you run the script and the Kaleidoscope window opens, under Angle 2, try setting it to 0.5 (or something close) as a minimum. Other values will give you cool effects, but the 0.5 should eliminate that line.
