What a nice tutorial! Too bad everyone just wants to draw disproportionate MLP characters!
Nevertheless, you did a wonderful job!

This tutorial is amazingly helpful. I don't know if I'd have the patience to work on a single piece for that long but its definitely something to keep in mind.

This one makes so much more sense than the other one (for the blending). Thank you so much!
What canvas size and resolution do you usually use?

feverpaint In reply to SunnySometimes [2012-07-30 19:51:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I didn't really think the first one through
Usually around 5000xwhatever hight I want it. It depends a lot on how much detail I want the piece in and if it's going to be printed on larged canvases!

Foals tend to have extremely long legs compared to their body size, that's what makes them so cute in my opinion Thanks!

Wonderful tutorial! I love to use the color-drop method of shading, it's lots of fun, if time consuming It's really neat to see how you work, thanks for the great tut ^^

Wow! Thanks you for submit this tutorial. I love your art!
A question if I may: What size you use for your digital pictures?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
feverpaint In reply to Teradiam [2012-07-30 19:54:04 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it!
Depends usually around 5000x5000 sometimes even bigger and ofc the dimensions differ. When I know my work is going to be printed I use larger sizes to get the best quality

I work pretty much the same way as you, but the hairs don't work for me
They always are a mess and it doesn't look good.

feverpaint In reply to EmmaVZ [2012-07-30 19:54:58 +0000 UTC]
They didn't for me in the beginning either, but then I sort of got how to do it so that they looked better

EmmaVZ In reply to feverpaint [2012-07-30 20:00:13 +0000 UTC]
I think I'm not gonna try more drawings with hairs, it just doesn't look good, doesn't matter how many times I try
I'm gonna draw a realistic style without hairs

Amazing<3 Very good tutorial! I must ask is white horse hard to draw?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
feverpaint In reply to Dimanen [2012-07-30 19:56:33 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! Depends on the lighting, I think most people have a problem with white horses cause they draw their shadows grey or black which really is completely wrong. The darker colours of white horses differ depending on the lighting, background etc
