Description
EDIT: Okay DON'T LAUGH AT MY ENGLISH I'VE GOTTEN BETTER THIS IS FROM 2009These are the basics of how I shade.
Have fun! I'd love to see what you created with the help of this tutorial.
I used Photoshop CS4 to draw. But this method works on any program that has layers that you can set to multiply mode.
Like openCanvas, Sai, Gimp...
In Photoshop and OC, the Layer modes can be changed here:

The brush I used is this one:

This video is really old, I've gotten a bit better at speaking so this video is sort of embarassing, but it seems to help people so I guess I'll have to endure the embarassment xD Glad it helped you!

Sometimes. THe colors of the background and the shading should match each other, so you can either fit the shading to the backround or the other way around.

Where do you finde the blend tool XL
plz tell me X<
π: 0 β©: 1
Feyrah In reply to snowtheacat [2012-03-07 09:44:46 +0000 UTC]
There is no blend tool. You do it by hand with the normal brush by picking inbetween colors and using pen pressure to blend them in.

Thats very helpful I have two questions, though...
What brush were you using ?
When you make the highlight layer, is it just a copy of your shading layer on overlay, or a white layer on overlay?

I like how your all "AHHHH. Where to start..." when you first take off the color layer.
But helpful, =] I shall attempt this technique.
