Description
This is a scan I did from the original art used in the opening title sequence for the animated Godzilla series.I used non-reproductive blue and purple pencils as the under-drawing which I erased after inking. If you look closely you can see the pencil lines that I missed.
Edit: Helen Maier was my inker through most of the Sony shows. I would do the small details like eyes, she would do the rest. Most of the production art are collaborations between us.

Godzilla the Series has one seriously epic opening title sequence, just gets you pumped each time for whatever the episode might bring. Is this from the part where he passes by the bridge? That bald guy in the car must have seen some major action in his lifetime to not be freaked out by the sight of a kaiju staring back at him XD

Yeah that guy was loosely based on my Grandfather but I've never admitted that to anyone else before.

Typical New York driver reaction - you see one giant igauna, you seen them all!

Richard Raynis directed it, I love his opening sequences, I wish he had directed more.

It's really amazing just how much detail is in the design...

Hehehe without the color and shading he looks a lot more...goofy and friendly. Like he's smiling at the camera XD
Love that opening sequence.

It's so beautiful.
That, and, despite the fact you've been doing this for a while already, it's still unreal that one of the lead artists from 'Godzilla: The Series' is posting the original artwork here.

If I didn't do this my work would never get seen, I'm really glad that there are people still interested enough to appreciate it

SO EPIC!!!!! Hands down one of the finest openings done in moving images. The bit where his head comes up next to the bridge, and the bit where he wraps around the building and his tail and body move with such organic motion, god I love that intro.

I've decided that coloring theses things is gumming up the works so I'll release the drawings as I did them. Color them some other time

Helen Maier did most of my inking, I would pilot fineliner in the tiny details that I thought were important and let her do the bigger shapes with her steadier hand, that's her hand writing so I know she helped me ink it.

Cool! Yeah, my hands are horribly shaky Computers exacerbate it, good thing for automatic line smoothing in some programs!
