This is gorgeous, wow. I love how all the elements fit together, how sharply focused the foreground is, with the background fading into something ethereal - almost fragile, or maybe untouchable/unreachable. The colors and the lighting are beautiful. There's so much here - I keep staring at this and finding more to take away - this feels like Snape, feels like more than a moment, feels like a story, a character unto itself. And it's so, so fitting for the poem. My goodness, I love this. How have I never seen it before?

Did you read this story?

"The Snidget" by Acid and Sinick
Your work reminded me of this.

Yes. I've read it, a few times. Not nearly enough, though, before my co-writer and I had to stop tweaking commas and language and turn in the final draft by the fest's deadline back in 2009.
Brings a smile on my face just thinking back on the time we were working on it.

This is exquisite! I like the way the Harry-centric aspect of the series is turned on its head: Snape is in sharp foreground focus and Harry and the Patronus are part of a fluid arboreal background. The quality of light, Richard Dadd-like detail in cobwebs, the snidget - wow - and in small view the berries look like little skulls! Snape has a few silver strands in his hair, he seems almost beautiful, unusually composed - enjoying the task. You might almost believe he fathered film-Harry - they have similar mouths - but the mood is so ethereal and elegaic that it doesn't seem perverse. Amazing.

This poem goes beautifully with this picture, and is a haunting commentary about the obligations his life held. I love the expression in his eyes, and the half-visible patronus is a lovely touch.

This is spectacular! So detailed and brooding and romantic in an odd way. And I love the brightness of the yellow bird in comparison to the shadowy colours of the painting on a whole. The poem is one of my favorites, too ... gorgeous job.

Okay, let me try this again. I'm going to see if my Internet Provider, Cogeco will kick me off for the fifth time tonight before I get this in.
Where does it come from? I love the detail, especially in Snape's eyes.

is that a snitch? i love the emotion in this piece...the lilies, harry in the bg, snape...and it's not overdramatic either, it's very subtle yet obvious at the same time

Oh, it's one of the most beautiful and original arts on this subject I've seen(: . I love the painterly style and your choice of colours - all the yellows, greens and violets that create a mysterious and magical atmosphere. The texture of his skin is wonderful too.

Gods, I love this.
One, I love your Snape. I love his pale skin and his abnormally large nose (♥♥...and I love the slightly wistful expression on his face. Mm.
Also, you've chosen an excellent poem to use as the title. It's fabulous...and it works for him.
Haha, I actually saw the title Promises to Keep on the DevWatch notice board, and I automatically finished it with "And miles to go before I sleep."
