I have to say that that is a very neat right there. I like how dramatic you made it look, especially with the effects and what not. The snow looks nice, and it looks like they're about to engage in battle. I like. I take it those white streaks are supposed to be there for dramatic purposes, like to focus on him? Either way they look nice with whatever he's doing.
As for the sword, I'm not sure, gold does look nice on him, but silver might too. I guess whatever balances a bit better. I'm not sure.

Being evil to my OCs is what I'm best at hurhur. No.
For the sword, as you went to that colour, I suggest gold as silver would be a bit "pale", unless you go for a pretty dark, deep blue, silver is recommended (but gold looks good with it too... should).
I like the background, and the touches where it seems like the spiked-metals objects are in motion, and so is the wind.
The title "Never Surrender" reminds me of a quote two characters say in the game Tales of Grace F: "Never give up!"

Those metal are swords, he was surrounded by his enemies~ (kinda life and death situation in here).
