Description
This is the finished Claymore. The wood came from a discarded couch.It now has been spray painted with three coats of Valspar Interior Brilliant Silver that I picked up at Micheal's Arts and Crafts. Now I'm not advertising just answering the inevitable question.
Up date Use Testors chrome lacquer it's a better paint.
Update saw a claymore by waynekaa ( ) [link] with all gold handle looked far better.

It's only clean because you can't see the handle from the top. I am going to repaint it and mask off the edge I want to see if I can get the two tone look of the katanas edge.

38 wow T shirt and bikini weather by Canadian standards. You would have loved it a few weeks ago it also was 38 as in -38. The fun thing about telling you about the weather is having to convert for you. Right not it is 25 out side however by tomorrow night it will be 0.
Now about your sword, you have done a very neat job of making it, You have a lot of skill. I am very pleased with the tsuba. How wide is the blade? You have a very good curve on it. There are still some rough spots on the blade edge, but i know you will take care of those are you going for a rectangular profile on the handle or will you round it like the sode?

Dang -38. I'd freeze on the spot. See, the problem with me is that I have bad circulation to my hands or something cause even though my body is nice and warm, my fingers are like ice, thats what bothers me the most.
Thank you for your compliments, yeah I still have a lot of work to do and a lot of sanding and priming as well. The blade is roughly about 3 cm wide. The handle will hopefully be rectangular with the edges rounded. I'm hopeing it comes out well.
My biggest challenge will be to get the handle wrap right. x_x

If I recall properly from the anime, the color of the handle may be customizable.
One of the episodes showed the characters with different colored handles.

my dad has an OLD lathe. no motor either. =_= if my dad has any scrap wood, or if i can find some good stuff in Cull lumber, i should try getting back into making swords. (made sticks in the shape of swords when i was about 14 or so. -_-)

I used a split dowel for the main handle the ring around the hand guards is shown on a new deviation. The hand guards were cut on a scroll saw and shaped with a beltsander. One broke off so I broke off both. That made the finish shaping a hell of a lot easier.
